About The Position

The Project Safety Coordinator's objective is to ensure a safe and healthful workplace by administering the WPI Safety Program, fostering a trusting and team-oriented environment for all workers. This role requires full compliance with WPI policies, procedures, and the corporate safety program, acting as the primary EHS contact for the project.

Requirements

  • Must possess one of the following Board of Certified Safety Professionals designations: CST, CHST, OHST, STS-C, ASP.
  • Minimum of three years of qualified project safety experience on similarly sized projects with similar type construction.
  • Thorough understanding of EHS programs, practices, and regulations.
  • Ability to prioritize workload, recognize priority conflicts, and seek guidance.
  • Valid driver's license and good driving record.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, and Outlook).
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Ability to multitask, think critically, and problem-solve.
  • Ability to work independently, make decisions, and follow through on assignments.
  • Strong organizational and computer use skills.
  • High level of competency to read/write/speak English, interpret safety documentation, and communicate with coworkers.

Responsibilities

  • Administer the WPI Safety Program to promote a safe and healthful workplace.
  • Ensure 100% compliance with WPI Safety Policies and Procedures.
  • Serve as the EHS contact for the project.
  • Facilitate safety and equipment training and maintain training records.
  • Facilitate the incident investigation process, ensuring root-cause identification, corrective action implementation, and sharing lessons learned.
  • Foster an injury-free environment by developing positive relationships with all project stakeholders.
  • Facilitate the implementation of the site-specific health and safety plan.
  • Assist the project foreperson with identification and mitigation of high-risk activities.
  • Develop, review, and/or approve job hazard analyses and pre-task plans.
  • Perform and formally document project safety audits and ensure resolution of action items.
  • Ensure WPI complies with the EHS Program, Federal, State, and local regulations.
  • Facilitate the implementation of work control permits and evaluation process.
  • Meet with GC Safety Managers to ensure safety culture improvement goals are met.
  • Facilitate the onsite drug and alcohol testing program.
  • Participate in all required meetings.
