About The Position

The Project Safety Coordinator promotes, monitors, and supports safe working conditions across active construction project sites. Reporting directly to the Regional HSE Consultant, the coordinator works with regional HSE leadership, site supervisors, project managers, trade contractors, and cross-functional teams to identify and control hazards, support compliance with OSHA and other applicable requirements, and foster a proactive safety culture. The role includes conducting inspections and audits, maintaining safety records, delivering training, investigating incidents, supporting job planning and hazard mitigation, and coordinating emergency preparedness and response. The position is based at active construction project sites and involves exposure to indoor and outdoor conditions, noise, dust, and heavy machinery. The full-time schedule may require flexibility for early starts, extended project hours, or weekend operations based on site demands. Reliable personal transportation is required for travel to assigned sites. Candidates must be able to stand, walk, and inspect construction sites for up to 12 hours per day, negotiate uneven terrain, and climb ladders or scaffolding. Employment is contingent on a comprehensive background check and pre-employment drug screening.

Requirements

  • Seven consecutive years dedicated solely to building construction safety.
  • Five years of building construction safety management experience; general-industry or specialty-contractor safety experience does not count toward this comprehensive building-construction experience requirement.
  • Hold a nationally recognized safety certification such as CSP or CHST; successful achievement may count toward up to two additional years of experience.
  • Demonstrate continuing safety training for the claimed experience period.
  • Have practical knowledge, working experience, and documented continuing education in fall protection; ground-supported and suspended scaffolds; excavation and trenching; permit and non-permit confined spaces; crane operation; electrical safety; incident investigation; construction industrial hygiene; fire protection and prevention; lockout/tagout; basic crane rigging; and respiratory protection.
  • Training for each required topic must be at least four hours in duration and dated within five years of the Notice to Proceed for Construction Services, or the Owner's equivalent, for the project.
  • Possess a certificate of completion for the OSHA 500 Trainer Course for Construction or OSHA 502 Update for the Construction Industry Outreach Trainers. OSHA 500 or OSHA 510 certificates alone do not satisfy the specified training requirement.
  • Provide evidence of specialized training with in-person demonstration of competency in Emergency First Aid, CPR, and AED, current within two years.
  • If qualifying through a four-year degree in a construction safety discipline for an SSR position, have at least three years of actual field experience in building construction safety.
  • Demonstrate versatile leadership and interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate safety requirements clearly across project personnel and trade partners.
  • Have strong organizational, administrative, and document-management capabilities.
  • Have an analytical mindset and practical problem-solving skills suited to fast-paced, multi-trade job sites.
  • Be proficient with digital safety management platforms, tablet-based reporting tools, and standard office software.
  • Have reliable personal transportation to travel to assigned job sites and project locations.
  • Be physically capable of standing, walking, and inspecting active construction sites for up to 12 hours per day, negotiating uneven terrain, and climbing ladders or scaffolding.
  • Complete a comprehensive background check and pre-employment drug screening as a condition of employment.

  • Review and assist with developing Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), Activity Hazard Analyses (AHAs), and site-specific safety plans before and during high-risk work or changing site conditions.
  • Coordinate site emergency response plans, inspect and maintain life-safety and first-aid resources, and liaise with local emergency services and site response personnel.
