Project Rebound Coordinator - Dean of Students
About The Position
Under the general direction of the Sr. Associate Dean of Students, the Project Rebound Coordinator is responsible for the coordination, implementation, and ongoing operation of the Project Rebound program. The position serves as the primary resource for supporting the recruitment, enrollment, retention, and success of formerly incarcerated and justice-impacted students through comprehensive advising, case management, and program services. The Project Rebound Coordinator collaborates with campus departments, community-based organizations, partner institutions, and correctional and reentry programs to establish and maintain a continuum of support for students. The position is responsible for managing program operations, facilitating outreach and enrollment efforts, and ensuring students are connected to appropriate academic, financial, and basic needs resources to support persistence and degree completion.
Requirements
- Thorough knowledge of the principles of individual and group behavior.
- General knowledge of individual counseling techniques and non-clinical case management practices as applied in a higher education setting.
- Knowledge of the issues, barriers, and systemic challenges facing formerly incarcerated and justice-impacted populations.
- Ability to apply knowledge of challenges facing formerly incarcerated and justice-impacted populations to support student access, transition, and success in a university environment.
- Ability to advise students individually and in groups on varied and complex matters, including those involving sensitive personal, academic, financial, and reentry-related issues.
- Ability to analyze complex situations accurately, interpret and evaluate descriptions of student concerns, define problems, and develop and implement appropriate courses of action or intervention.
- Ability to determine appropriate techniques and approaches when engaged in personal interactions of a sensitive, emotionally charged, or potentially adversarial nature, utilizing tact, diplomacy, and sound professional judgment.
- Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university in a related field, including or supplemented by upper division or graduate coursework in counseling techniques, interviewing, and conflict resolution where such are job-related.
- Equivalent of three years of progressively responsible professional student services work experience.
