About The Position

Habitat for Humanity Canada is a national charity dedicated to building homes, communities, and hope through innovative construction, repair, financing, skills training, and advocacy. As a member of Habitat for Humanity International, they operate in over 60 countries. The Project Officer, Global Programs role will contribute to shaping Habitat Canada’s global project portfolio to be more inclusive and climate resilient. This position involves analyzing project impact using Results Based Management, conducting research for portfolio strengthening recommendations, and identifying/cultivating partnerships. This is an eight-week summer student position funded by Canada Summer Jobs, requiring candidates to meet eligibility criteria (ages 15-30).

Requirements

  • Post-secondary education in a relevant discipline (international development, sustainability, housing finance, or related field).
  • 3+ years of experience in project management, program design, research, or related areas.
  • Demonstrated experience working on international development projects and delivering results in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
  • Strong research and analytical skills with the ability to synthesize complex information into actionable insights.
  • Excellent problem-solving and priority-setting skills, with a proven ability to meet deadlines under pressure.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Effective at developing positive working relationships, evidenced by a track record of teamwork and collegiality.
  • Commitment to Habitat’s mission and values, including equity, diversity, and inclusion in the workplace.
  • Must meet eligibility requirements for Canada Summer Jobs (ages 15-30).

Responsibilities

  • Lead the review and impact analysis of current international projects supporting indigenous and inclusive housing solutions.
  • Analyze project learning and data to inform program development.
  • Conduct a review of project management tools and processes to integrate more inclusive and people-centered approaches.
  • Develop clear, actionable recommendations for reports and presentations for internal and external audiences.
  • Support organization-wide strategy development and planning processes, identifying potential partnerships aligned with program priorities.
  • Contribute to the development of funding opportunities and proposal preparation.
  • Support the Program team with ad hoc requests and participate in staff meetings and events.
