About The Position

The North Carolina Department of Natural and Cultural Resources (DNCR) Capital Projects is looking for a detail-oriented Project Manager to join their team. This position manages the design and construction process for capital improvement and renovation projects of moderate to large complexity, scope, and size. The role emphasizes representing the interests of the end user throughout the planning, design, and construction processes, with a strong focus on customer service.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Facilities or Construction Management or related Engineering field from an appropriately accredited institution and Two (2) years of related experience in construction project management, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • May require registration as a professional engineer by the North Carolina Board of Examiners for Engineers and Surveyors.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts bid openings, bid evaluation, and recommends award of construction projects.
  • Manages project budgets, approves payments to contractors and designers, and reviews, negotiates, and approves change orders during construction as appropriate.
  • Coordinates internal engineering review of schematic designs and construction drawings provided by outside consultants for conformance with operational needs and local, state, and federal codes and professional standards.
  • Represents the Department’s interests at construction progress meetings, conferences, and inspections.
  • Conducts final inspections along with designers and recommends acceptance for occupancy.
  • Conducts post-occupancy evaluations and resolves issues through warranty considerations.
