About The Position

The Project Manager will own municipal and commercial underground infrastructure projects from initial handover through final closeout. The role covers pre-construction setup, project timelines, quality, deliverables, financial controls, stakeholder coordination, project administration, and coordination with field crews. Projects include underground utilities such as water mains, sanitary sewer, and storm drainage. The position is based in the High Point, North Carolina area and is on-site five days per week, with flexible Fridays. The employer is a family-owned underground utility contractor serving the Piedmont Triad, with a safety-first culture and a focus on technical controls and quality work.

Requirements

Demonstrated experience managing wet utility projects, including water mains, sanitary sewer, or storm drainage; alternatively, significant project management experience with a general contractor overseeing large-scale civil, infrastructure, or commercial projects.
Proficiency with construction management software, estimating tools, scheduling software, Microsoft 365, Excel, and PDF editing tools.
Strong skills in blueprint reading, specification analysis, job costing, trench safety, and local municipal utility standards.
Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.

Nice To Haves

Direct wet utilities experience is preferred.
A bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred.

Responsibilities

Oversee underground utility projects from pre-construction setup through closeout, managing timelines, quality, and deliverables.
Manage job costing, budget tracking, change orders, procurement, and monthly progress billings.
Coordinate daily with field superintendents, municipal inspectors, utility authorities, engineers, and developers as the primary point of contact.
Manage submittals, RFIs, material procurement schedules, utility permits, and contractual documentation.
Work with on-site crews and superintendents to ensure projects comply with plans, specifications, municipal standards, and safety protocols.
