About The Position

Brice Engineering LLC is seeking a Project Manager to work on-site in Anchorage, AK. This role is responsible for managing environmental projects, including developing cost estimates, coordinating bid activities, and executing project requirements. The Project Manager will determine necessary resources based on cost estimates and budget constraints, and coordinate with technical professionals and field staff for successful project execution. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in geology, physical or environmental science, or environmental engineering required.
  • Seven to fifteen years of experience working on environmental projects.
  • A broad understanding of federal, state, and local environmental regulations.
  • Ability to travel 15-25% of the time for meetings, site visits, and occasional fieldwork.
  • Valid state driver’s license and qualified to operate a vehicle under the conditions of the Company’s Driving Policy.
  • Ability to pass drug and background screening.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Project, Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Detailed knowledge and understanding of RCRA, NPDES, CWA, OPPA, CAA, and other applicable laws, legal codes, government regulations, executive orders, and agency rules governing environmental projects and programs.
  • Knowledge of the practical application of environmental science and technology.
  • Ability to use scientific rules and methods to solve problems, and logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
  • Ability to gather data, compile information, and prepare reports.
  • Ability to read and understand complex contract documents.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong self-motivation and work ethic; ability to work without direct supervision.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work productively under pressure.
  • Good attention to detail with the ability to recognize discrepancies.

Nice To Haves

  • Professional licensure preferred.
  • Experience in federal government projects is highly desired.
  • Hazardous Waste Operation and Emergency Response training with current 8-hour refresher preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Manage projects at the client and contract level with support from Senior Project Managers and Program Managers.
  • Develop and define criteria for projects’ key deliverables and continually monitor critical milestones.
  • Perform project cost estimating and value engineering.
  • Ensure projects stay aligned to expected goals and deliver planned benefits.
  • Oversee daily management of field projects, including monitoring and coordinating work by field staff and subcontractors.
  • Manage logistic requirements for field projects.
  • Responsible for cost, schedule, quality control management, and customer satisfaction.
  • Identify, analyze, and prepare for project risks and ensure compliance with quality, safety, and security processes.
  • Attend site visits to determine scope and accuracy of contract and planning documents, which may require multi-day visits and/or overnight stays.
  • Review project plans and specifications and coordinate with the team to confirm complete scope.
  • Review general conditions, schedule, scopes of work, site logistics, and other exhibits.
  • Review labor requirements to decide whether it is more cost-effective to self-perform or subcontract.
  • Prepare instructions for subcontractors with bid solicitation information and solicit subcontractor information & pricing.
  • Solicit vendor quotes and perform analysis for incorporation into project estimate.
  • Assist in the procurement and tracking of materials.
  • Prepare project estimates and ensure all factors are properly considered, scheduled, priced, and included.
  • Review estimates prepared by others for completeness and accuracy prior to submission.
  • Assist in the development of project budgets and estimates to complete.
  • Oversee records management of project cost history.
  • Assist in the pricing of change orders or additional work.
  • Ensure the flow of project information is maintained and documented.
  • Maintain and communicate data on material cost trends affecting project costs.
  • Communicate with clients, customers, and/or regulatory agencies through meetings, monthly reports, schedule updates, site visits, document reviews, resolution discussions, and the invoicing process.
  • Build effective relationships with customers, specialty contractors, suppliers, and user groups.
  • Lead a proactive safety culture.
  • Work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.
  • Support environmental investigations and assessments in accordance with state and federal regulatory guidelines.
  • Work with technical staff in support of project objectives and field operations.
  • Provide scientific and technical guidance, support, and coordination to project staff preparing written project documentation.
  • Evaluate and select data collection methods and procedures for site surveys and investigations.
  • Be a lead author of and provide technical/QC reviews of project documents.
  • Be a technical liaison for clients and customers.
  • Supervise junior staff, manage workflow, create team schedules, and delegate tasks.
  • Assess employee work performance and identify areas for improvement.
  • Ensure business goals, deadlines, and performance standards are met.
  • Train and onboard new hires.
  • Set goals for employees and ensure compliance with company plans and vision.
  • Report performance records and evaluations to HR and senior management.
  • Perform other duties as directed.
