About The Position

The NYC Department of Design and Construction, Division of Safety & Site Support, is seeking a Project Manager within the Office of Construction Safety (OCS). The selected candidate will report to the Deputy Director and be responsible for various aspects of construction safety programs, including support for DDC Infrastructure, Public Buildings, and Alternative Delivery capital construction projects. Responsibilities include conducting contractor safety performance evaluations and performing technical tasks related to construction capital project management and delivery. The candidate will conduct regular field audits to monitor and verify the remediation of safety findings, ensure compliance with Site Safety Plans and applicable safety standards, communicate findings and recommendations to project staff and contractors. Additional duties include preparing safety progress reports, coordinating with other divisions and agencies, monitoring and reporting key performance indicators with a focus on continuous improvement, and routinely preparing and maintaining status reports for capital and MMR projects for Senior Management. This position plays a critical role in strengthening regulatory compliance and supporting the timely and successful delivery of capital construction projects.

Requirements

• Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college in engineering, engineering technology, architecture, landscape architecture, architectural technology, construction, construction management, construction technology, sustainable design, urban planning, urban studies, city planning, transportation planning, business administration, or public administration, and one year of full-time satisfactory experience in project management work, such as planning, administering, managing, coordinating, or expediting, for engineering and/or architectural and/or landscape architectural projects.
• Four year high school diploma or its educational equivalent and five years of experience in project management work, such as planning, administering, managing, coordinating, or expediting, for engineering and/or architectural and/or landscape architectural projects.
• Four year high school diploma or its educational equivalent plus any combination of the experience and/or college education as described in '1' above to make up the equivalent of five years of education and experience. One year of credit will be given for each 30 semester credits of college education leading to a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college in engineering, engineering technology, architecture, landscape architecture, architectural technology, construction, construction management, construction technology, sustainable design, urban planning, urban studies, city planning, transportation planning, business administration, or public administration.
• Currently authorized to work full-time in the United States (U.S.).
• Must present original documents proving citizenship or the legal right to work in the U.S. at the time of an offer.
• Educational credentials must be from a U.S. Department of Education-recognized accredited institution. Credentials from foreign institutions require independent equivalency verification from an approved evaluation service.
