As a Project Manager you will plan, organize, direct and control the work of construction sites to ensure they are completed on time, within budget, and at the highest level of quality. We are looking for a Project Manager to join our Western Canada team.

Requirements

  • Degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management, or Civil Engineering Technology
  • Technical background with professional accreditation (P.Eng./ CET) or combination of technical training and/or related experience
  • Related job experience of 5- 10 years with increasing levels of responsibility
  • Previous work experience in Civil Engineering Construction, including dams, powerhouse and generation stations, bridges, infrastructure, and/or heavy civil construction is required
  • Advanced skills in communication and problem solving
  • Initiative and leadership
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Office, MS Project and Bluebeam
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task
  • Skilled in management, negotiation, communication, and problem-solving
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to prioritize work

Nice To Haves

  • Previous work experience on an OPG project or powerhouse experience would be considered an asset
  • Bilingualism – French/English – is considered an asset

Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, direct and control the work of construction sites to ensure they are completed on time, within budget, and at the highest level of quality.
  • Read the technical and administrative specifications of the project to be executed.
  • Acquire the necessary technical and administrative information from the persons involved during the submission.
  • Obtain blueprints and specifications for construction and compare them to bid plans.
  • Report changes to professionals and claim costs.
  • Mentor and develop junior staff members, providing guidance on project management best practices and career growth.
  • Lead projects in uncharted territory, developing innovative solutions when traditional approaches may not be sufficient.
  • Obtain licenses and permits as needed for the execution of the work.
  • Draft contracts and agreements, negotiate terms and award them to subcontractors.
  • Establish the schedule (dates, main stages of construction, constraints, methodology) and / or the critical path of the project and monitor it weekly.
  • Inform the superintendent of the project and discuss with him and the director of the proposed methods.
  • Place orders for critical materials, negotiate prices and prepare contract documents, in collaboration with the construction manager, for subcontractors.
  • Coordinate and participate in various meetings.
  • Establish and maintain a professional and continuous positive rapport with the client, etc.
