About The Position

KCI Technologies is seeking an experienced Project Manager to join its building structures team in Sparks, Maryland. The role is suited to an experienced structural engineer who can lead project delivery, mentor staff, and develop client relationships. The position supports a diverse portfolio of building and building-related projects across the country, including active projects in the Northeast Region, and contributes to the growth of KCI’s regional presence. The Project Manager is responsible for building structural projects from concept through construction, including scope, schedule, budget, quality, structural design, team coordination, client contact, and construction administration. The role includes technical leadership and QA/QC, staff development, workload planning, and support for proposals and business development. Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering and at least 3 years of related professional experience, or 7 years of equivalent professional experience.
Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
Ability to complete KCI PM Training and Contract Risk Training and pass the PM Board within 6 months of the start date.
Experience in project management roles and a track record of successful project delivery.
Strong working knowledge of Revit, AutoCAD, structural analysis/design software, and building design.
Experience managing building structural projects from concept through construction.
Experience with structural design, field investigations, and client coordination.
Experience with client interaction, proposal development, and team leadership.
Strong communication, organizational, problem-solving, and time-management skills, including the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects.
Demonstrated leadership abilities to inspire and motivate project teams.
Technical knowledge relevant to the project field.
Proficiency in project management software and tools, including developing and maintaining project plans and documentation.
Knowledge of industry standards and best practices for project management, quality assurance, and safety protocols.
Ability to identify issues and implement effective solutions in a fast-paced environment.
Negotiation skills for managing contracts, scope changes, and stakeholder agreements.
Understanding of accounting principles for managing project budgets, financial reporting, and resource allocation.
Working knowledge of building and design codes.
Familiarity with Microsoft Office and Bluebeam or Adobe.
Participation in continuing education and professional development programs.

Nice To Haves

At least 7 years of structural engineering experience, including project management responsibility.
Interest in mentoring and team development.
NCEES registration and ability to obtain licensure in other states.
Proficiency in RISA, RAM, or similar structural design software.
Ability to lead and motivate teams in a fast-paced consulting environment.
Strong financial acumen, including budget tracking, forecasting, and resource planning.
Ability to balance technical involvement with project management responsibilities.
Master’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.

Responsibilities

Manage building structural projects with responsibility for scope, schedule, budget, and quality.
Lead structural design for steel, concrete, masonry, and wood structures, including new designs and existing-building work.
Perform structural design and analysis, site visits, and field investigations as needed.
Manage and coordinate multidisciplinary teams, including architects and MEP partners.
Develop and oversee construction documents using Revit and AutoCAD.
Provide technical leadership and QA/QC oversight for calculations, drawings, and specifications.
Mentor and provide technical development and general oversight to junior staff.
Serve as the primary client contact and maintain and expand client relationships.
Support proposal development, project scoping, and business development.
Lead projects through design, bid, and construction administration phases.
Plan workloads and team staffing schedules.
