About The Position

AtkinsRéalis is hiring a Project Manager based in our Vancouver, British Columbia offices. The Project Manager reports to the Director of Project Delivery. You will be responsible for working alongside other discipline managers, technical leads and project managers and be responsible for project management of various projects within the team. The ideal candidate will have a broad base of engineering design and leadership experience and will be a motivated self-starter who embraces the opportunity to work on a variety of projects concurrently. Projects vary in size and complexity, resulting in the necessity to manage multiple projects simultaneously. It is an expectation that the Project Manager will manage activities including, but not limited to, budget, schedule, quality assurance, engineering, procurement support, construction management support and safety.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in engineering, an electrical degree is preferred, a project management accreditation (PMP) is an asset.
  • 5-10 years of experience in project management with a degree in either Civil, Electrical, or Mechanical engineering.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of engineering principles and practices and the flow of design in project management.
  • Knowledge of all project management functions, including design, contracts, procurement of services, and project accounting.
  • Proficient with standard computer tools including MS Office Suite.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • A distinct results-based orientation combined with outstanding communication, interpersonal and team building skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience of working within a large design team is an asset.
  • Experience in the following is considered a distinct asset, Transmission and Distribution, working with a major utility, working in an EPCM environment.

Responsibilities

  • The successful delivery of the project to agreed targets, e.g., schedule, budget, and quality.
  • Identifying, escalating, and managing any matters which could pose a potential contractual and, or commercial risk.
  • Setting objectives, and defining tasks for the project team, delegating authority, and agreeing with the project director how risks will be shared, as necessary.
  • Actively managing the project – both technically and financially, in accordance with corporate and business policies, directives, guidance and procedures. Protecting the commercial interest of the project.
  • Facilitating communication, co-ordination, and information flow with the Client and within the project team, including any subcontractors and partners (internal and external).
  • Facilitation of all technical documentation required for the execution of the project (Technical studies, Design basis, Conceptual designs, Detailed designs, technical specifications, Field work, Tender Phase services, Construction Phase Services and Record drawings).
  • Work within financial constraints and understanding of project financial workings.
  • Establishing and maintaining a climate favorable to the application of ethical and professional practices in the execution of the engineering work.
