About The Position

Elford is an employee-owned commercial general contractor with over 100 years of experience seeking a Traveling Project Manager to lead multifamily projects. This role, based out of Ann Arbor, Michigan, involves managing projects from preconstruction through closeout, ensuring budgets, schedules, trade partners, and client expectations are met. The position requires travel to project sites.

Requirements

• A bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent construction experience.
• 10+ years of commercial construction experience, including at least 5 years in project management.
• Experience managing multifamily construction projects from preconstruction through closeout.
• Strong knowledge of project financials, scheduling, contracts, and subcontractor management.
• The ability to lead teams across multiple locations and travel to project sites as needed.
• A practical, hands-on approach to solving problems and keeping projects moving.

Responsibilities

• Lead multifamily projects from preconstruction and startup through construction and closeout.
• Develop and manage project budgets, schedules, procurement plans, forecasts, and cost reports.
• Partner with Superintendents to coordinate field activities, resolve issues, and maintain progress on site.
• Manage subcontractors, purchase orders, invoices, change orders, and project documentation.
• Lead owner and project meetings, providing clear updates on schedule, budget, and key decisions.
• Build strong relationships with owners, architects, engineers, trade partners, and internal teams.
• Mentor Assistant Project Managers and Project Engineers.
• Work with field leadership to maintain a safe jobsite and deliver quality work.
• Oversee punch lists, as-builts, warranties, and final project turnover.
