About The Position

Symbotic is seeking an ICS Implementation Project Manager to join its Industrial Controls Program Management team. The role plans, schedules, scopes, and coordinates PLC update activities across live operational sites, while facilitating a Jira-driven process for triaging and handling site issues. The team develops, deploys, and supports controls products, software, and systems for automated warehouse solutions, and coordinates release activities and live-site issue triage to help maintain stable, predictable, high-performing customer sites. The Project Manager owns planning and execution roadmaps for controls updates and releases, coordinates maintenance windows and verification procedures with Site Operations and cross-functional teams, and applies formal change-management and rollback practices to reduce operational disruption. The role also develops repeatable release processes, runbooks, dashboards, and retrospectives to improve fleetwide deployments. Travel of up to 25% may be required.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of related experience or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience in project engineering, release coordination, or project management in industrial automation, robotics, warehouse automation, or complex electromechanical systems.
  • Advanced proficiency in Jira and Confluence for intake workflows, triage facilitation, sprint and release tracking, and cross-functional reporting.
  • Experience coordinating complex, multi-stakeholder release schedules, site maintenance windows, and structured change-management protocols.
  • Exceptional communication and organizational skills, including the ability to align engineering, software quality assurance, and 24/7 site operations teams.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (such as Electrical, Mechanical, Controls, Systems, or Computer Science), or equivalent practical technical experience.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to drive and/or fly to client locations and company headquarters.

Nice To Haves

  • Practical experience or familiarity with industrial PLC platforms, including Rockwell Automation Studio 5000.
  • Familiarity with controls commissioning, systems integration, Agile methodologies, or formal project management frameworks.

Responsibilities

  • Own end-to-end planning, scheduling, and execution roadmaps for industrial controls (PLC) updates, hotfixes, and sustaining releases across live operational sites.
  • Facilitate triage and intake for live-site issues, enhancement requests, and field escalations, ensuring backlog hygiene, technical scoping, prioritization, and SLA tracking in Jira.
  • Serve as the primary cross-functional liaison with Site Operations leads and partners to negotiate maintenance windows, rollout schedules, and pre- and post-update verification procedures.
  • Enforce Management of Change protocols, rollback strategies, and operational gating criteria to minimize unplanned downtime during controls deployments.
  • Establish repeatable planning and release cadences that minimize site disruption and support predictable rollouts.
  • Standardize rollout runbooks, build visibility dashboards, and refine post-release retrospectives to improve fleetwide controls deployments.
  • Coordinate with Controls Engineering, Software Release, software quality assurance, and Site Operations to turn requests, maintenance items, and bug fixes into structured, risk-mitigated release windows.
