Requirements

  • Maintain and develop computer literacy skills; including specialist software, Microsoft Office and Teams.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Bluebeam Revu, LBNL Therm, Window, Optics, Revit, Rhino and other relevant technical software.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering or related field.
  • Up to date knowledge, which is maintained, in technical area of expertise.
  • Licensure in Architecture or Engineering
  • Minimum 5 years of experience working with/applying a variety of building envelope systems and materials including: Roofing, Below-Grade Waterproofing, Above-Grade Waterproofing, Curtain Wall, Window Wall, Punched Windows, Brick, Metal Panel Cladding, Precast Concrete/GFRC/Stone Cladding
  • Minimum 5 years of experience performing building envelope inspections and forensic investigations.
  • A minimum of 5 years of façade design and engineering experience.

  • Master’s degree in Architecture or Engineering.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the technical delivery of façade design and consultancy services.
  • Collaborate and coordinate with other project participants including Architects, owners, consultants, contractors and the project team.
  • Lead and plan broken-off tasks or efforts appropriately and independently, assign work to internal staff and budget time, review progress, provide quality checks and markups, meet deadlines, and communicate progress as needed or directed by the PM or Associate to external parties.
  • Work effectively on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Understand project scope, proactively track project deliverables/milestones and risks to exceeding scope and effectively communicate updates or alerts to PM and/or Associate.
  • Proactively undertake business development activities.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentoring to other team members.
  • Lead façade design and consulting projects from planning through construction.
  • Coordinate with architects, owners, contractors, consultants, and project stakeholders.
  • Manage project scope, schedules, budgets, deliverables, and milestones.
  • Assign work to project team members, review progress, provide quality control, and ensure deadlines are met.
  • Identify project risks and communicate scope, budget, or schedule concerns proactively.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining high-quality deliverables.
  • Prepare and review technical reports, specifications, drawings, sketches, and analyses.
  • Conduct building enclosure assessments, façade inspections, forensic investigations, and due diligence studies.
  • Perform and review engineering calculations related to façade systems and building enclosure performance.
  • Evaluate contractor submittals, shop drawings, product data, test reports, and detailed design packages.
  • Participate in factory visits, field inspections, and performance testing.
  • Provide technical recommendations related to architectural intent, durability, sustainability, constructability, scheduling, and budget objectives.
  • Conduct independent code research and ensure compliance with applicable building and energy codes.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships.
  • Support proposal development, fee negotiations, and project budgeting efforts.
  • Identify opportunities for business development and cross-selling services.
  • Represent DeSimone through networking events, industry presentations, webinars, publications, and professional organizations.
  • Stay informed on industry trends, emerging technologies, and market opportunities.
  • Mentor and develop junior staff through technical guidance and project support.
  • Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and high-performing team environment.
  • Provide constructive feedback and assist with professional development planning.
  • Support recruitment, interviewing, and team growth initiatives when needed.
