About The Position

Ultimation Industries is seeking a Project Manager to serve as the primary liaison between engineering, purchasing, operations, and supplier teams and their customers. The role involves managing conveyor and automation projects from kickoff through commissioning, leading cross-functional teams, owning the schedule and budget, and ensuring timely milestone completion. Ultimation is a leader in automation for automotive, e-commerce, and industrial markets, and the projects managed will have a measurable impact in real facilities. This role is ideal for a technically grounded project manager with significant experience in conveyor systems, automation, or industrial machinery, and a structured PMI-based approach.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of project management experience in conveyor systems, automation, or industrial machinery.
  • Proven success managing complex, multidisciplinary projects in manufacturing or automation environments.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and negotiation skills with the ability to manage scope, cost, and schedule trade-offs.
  • Proficient in project management software such as MS Project, MS Planner, or equivalent.
  • Working knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems used in conveyors and automation equipment.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field (or equivalent experience).

Nice To Haves

  • PMP certification or equivalent formal training in PMI-based project management methodologies.
  • Experience with ERP or MRP systems such as Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central or Epicor Prophet 21.
  • Background in automotive, e-commerce fulfillment, or industrial automation project delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Lead customer meetings from project kickoff through completion, serving as the primary point of contact.
  • Negotiate scope, schedules, and expectations effectively, maintaining strong customer relationships.
  • Manage stakeholder expectations proactively and resolve conflicts.
  • Apply PMI-aligned project management practices across scope, schedule, cost, risk, quality, and stakeholder management.
  • Develop and maintain detailed project schedules covering all milestones.
  • Manage scope, schedule, and cost baselines through formal change control processes.
  • Monitor progress, identify risks, and implement mitigation strategies.
  • Oversee both on-site and off-site project execution activities, including travel.
  • Lead internal coordination meetings with engineering, purchasing, operations, suppliers, and vendors.
  • Work closely with the engineering team to define solutions and address challenges.
  • Own the project's financial performance including cost tracking, forecasting, and variance analysis.
  • Provide regular project updates to internal management and external stakeholders.
