About The Position

Looking to grow our services in the Pacific Northwest and expand our presence with localities and WSDOT in the region, RK&K seeks to hire a Project Manager in Seattle to support our Transportation team. As a senior member of our team, you will focus on leading a variety of dynamic pursuits and projects as it relates to transportation, with a key focus on supporting our regional growth. As a Transportation Project Manager with RK&K you will support public agencies on traffic design and analysis engineering programs throughout our current and future portfolio.

Requirements

  • Ten (10) + years of progressive experience in traffic engineering
  • Experience working with WSDOT and local municipalities
  • Exceptional writing, verbal communication and presentation skills including public speaking
  • Experience with Highway Safety Manual, Highway Capacity Manual and AASHTO guidelines
  • Traffic control device design (signals, signing and marking, temporary traffic control, ITS) experience using MUTCD
  • Experience with Synchro/SimTraffic and VISSIM (or simulation analysis software)
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or related
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) or ability to obtain within six months.

  • Masters Degree in Civil Engineering
  • Professional Traffic Operations Engineer (PTOE)
  • Experience supervising other traffic engineers

Responsibilities

  • Perform a variety of tasks, including traffic engineering design plans, preliminary engineering design, transportation planning studies, and traffic operations analysis
  • Support projects for all modes of travel including highway, bus, rail, bicycle and pedestrian in urban, suburban and rural environments
  • Prepare documentation and design plans for traffic control devices, including traffic signals, signing and pavement markings, temporary traffic control, lighting, and Intelligent Traffic Systems (ITS)
  • Complete studies and develop high quality traffic reports with limited direction and be able to clearly, professionally present that information to our clients on site and virtually
  • Utilize traffic analysis/simulation tools to perform traffic modeling and simulations
  • Prepare technical reports and presentations
  • Facilitate internal and client meetings, presentations and approval of plans
  • Direct project staff and sub-consultants
  • Serve as liaison between client and firm
  • Execute QA/QC for completeness and accuracy of design work
  • Provide engineering judgment and initiative within the Traffic Engineering field
