About The Position

Freese and Nichols is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Transportation Project Manager to play a crucial role in shaping the future of transportation in Central Texas. The position is based in either Austin or San Antonio, TX, and involves delivering exceptional transportation projects for prominent public clients.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (or comparable engineering or applied science degree)
  • 8+ years of experience in roadway design
  • 2+ years of progressive project management experience
  • Texas Professional Engineering license
  • Strong technical skills in roadway and drainage design
  • Experience with MicroStation and Open Roads/Open Roads Designer

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in working on or with the Texas Department of Transportation and understanding their design requirements and/or LGPP Projects

Responsibilities

  • Uncover emerging issues or needs, identifying potential causes, barriers, and key stakeholders, as well as related issues.
  • Oversee details and deliverables of an entire project and delegate tasks to group to execute.
  • Oversee the quality of work being done on projects. Monitor the QA and QC actives of others to ensure that work is being delivered to the highest technical quality. May serve as QC reviewer or Senior Advisor on projects.
  • Serve as Senior Advisor on projects. Lead brainstorming meetings to discover innovative ideas and approaches on projects. Help PMs to think with a CI mindset.
  • Develop stakeholder engagement by finding out their needs, issues and concerns; and by reacting to these needs, issues and concerns to support the communication of business information and decisions.
  • Manage strategic client and customer relationships.
  • Develop and strengthen relationships with key client contacts to identify emerging needs and position the firm for future project opportunities.
  • Prepare for and lead client-specific conversations to uncover project drivers, technical and strategic priorities, and upcoming needs. Engage technical subject matter experts as appropriate to ensure that insights and client preferences are shared across pursuit teams to inform strategy and positioning.
