About The Position

EMCS, Inc. has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Project Manager to join our Indianapolis Transportation team. This position is designed for a civil engineering professional whose primary technical background may be in either transportation engineering or structural engineering and who is comfortable managing projects that involve both service areas. The Project Manager will lead multidisciplinary projects, coordinate technical staff, manage project scope, schedules, budgets, and client relationships, and help pursue new opportunities. Depending on the selected candidate’s background, the individual may also serve as a technical lead within their primary area of expertise while collaborating with EMCS subject-matter experts in the other service area. Requirements

BS or MS in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a closely related engineering discipline.
Professional Engineer registration in Indiana, or the ability to obtain Indiana registration within six months of employment.
At least eight years of progressive civil engineering experience, with demonstrated depth in either transportation engineering or structural engineering.
Familiarity with MicroStation, OpenRoads, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or specialized bridge-design software.
Project management or technical leadership experience on transportation, bridge, structural, municipal, or DOT projects.
Prior project experience with INDOT, Indiana municipalities, or Indiana counties strongly preferred.
Experience developing and managing project scopes, schedules, and budgets.
Experience performing or overseeing quality control reviews.
Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and manage assignments that extend beyond the candidate’s primary technical specialty.
Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain successful client relationships.
Experience supporting business development, identifying project opportunities, or preparing proposals.
Strong organizational, leadership, and decision-making skills.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Valid driver’s license.

Prior project experience with INDOT, Indiana municipalities, or Indiana counties strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

Serve as project manager for transportation, bridge, and other transportation-related structural projects.
Develop project scopes, schedules, budgets, contracts, and staffing plans.
Monitor project performance, including budgets, invoicing, deliverables, and overall schedule.
Coordinate project assignments and oversee the work of engineers, technicians, and other project staff.
Facilitate collaboration between transportation and structural team members to deliver coordinated, practical, and cost-effective solutions.
Serve as a technical lead within the candidate’s primary area of transportation or structural engineering expertise.
Coordinate with technical leads and subject-matter experts when managing projects outside the candidate’s primary specialty.
Perform or oversee quality control reviews to support accurate and consistent project deliverables.
Develop and maintain successful relationships with state, municipal, county, and private-sector clients.
Identify project opportunities and lead or support business development activities, including proposal preparation, scope development, and client presentations.
Mentor engineers and technicians and support their professional and technical development.
Participate in project meetings, site visits, inspections, and client coordination, as appropriate.
Help expand EMCS’s transportation and structural engineering services throughout Indiana and the surrounding region.
