The SR400 Express Lanes Project is a significant $4.6 billion infrastructure initiative in Georgia, adding express lanes and enhancing mobility. The Project Engineer – Structures will play a crucial role in supporting the field construction and engineering coordination of various structural elements, including bridges, retaining walls, and foundations, ensuring adherence to project requirements and safety standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of field experience in infrastructure, roadway, or bridge construction preferred.
  • Familiarity with GDOT projects and knowledge of AASHTO and FHWA standards is a plus.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to field offices and job sites as needed.
  • Basic knowledge of cost tracking, budget monitoring, and field production documentation.
  • Proficiency in construction technologies and software such as Primavera P6, Procore, Bluebeam, and HCSS.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and traffic control plans.
  • Strong communication and coordination skills with both field and office teams.

  • Familiarity with GDOT projects and knowledge of AASHTO and FHWA standards.

Responsibilities

  • Support field construction of bridges, retaining walls, foundations, drilled shafts/piles, abutments, piers, columns, bridge decks, structural concrete, precast elements, structural steel, barriers, and other roadway structures.
  • Coordinate daily structural activities with Superintendents, Foremen, subcontractors, survey teams, suppliers, and other project disciplines.
  • Review structural drawings, specifications, shop drawings, reinforcing-steel drawings, erection plans, and approved submittals to support field execution.
  • Assist with planning and sequencing excavation, foundations, formwork, reinforcing steel, embeds, concrete placements, structural erection, and deck construction.
  • Coordinate concrete placements, including quantities, deliveries, manpower, equipment, testing, access, and quality requirements.
  • Verify reinforcing steel, anchor bolts, embeds, bearings, joints, structural components, and related installations comply with approved plans and specifications.
  • Coordinate survey/layout and verify elevations, dimensions, alignment, clearances, and structural tolerances before critical construction activities.
  • Assist with temporary works and construction means and methods, including formwork, falsework, shoring, access systems, temporary supports, and erection activities.
  • Identify and coordinate resolution of constructability conflicts involving structures, roadway, utilities, drainage, and existing field conditions.
  • Track structural quantities, production rates, manpower, equipment, material deliveries, and subcontractor performance.
  • Develop daily and short-term look-ahead plans with field leadership to identify labor, equipment, material, access, inspection, and MOT requirements.
  • Prepare and track RFIs, submittals, field changes, quantity records, daily reports, photographs, and as-built documentation.
  • Monitor cost, schedule, quality, and safety performance for assigned structural work.
