About The Position

Michels Power, Inc. is seeking a Project Manager – Transmission & Distribution to lead the execution of complex utility infrastructure projects. This role involves managing projects from pursuit through closeout, overseeing segments of large transmission projects or multiple distribution and substation projects ranging from $500K to $10M+. The Project Manager will be fully accountable for scope, schedule, budget/cost control, safety, compliance, quality, performance, and client satisfaction. This position is ideal for a results-driven leader who thrives in field-based environments and complex project execution.

Requirements

  • 5–7+ years of experience in construction project management within transmission, distribution, utility, or electrical infrastructure projects (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
  • Proven experience managing project scope, cost, schedule, and field execution.
  • Strong knowledge of T&D construction methods, sequencing, and project delivery.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience with project management / scheduling software (Primavera P6, HCSS, MS Project, or similar).
  • Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
  • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Willingness to travel and support long-term, onsite project assignments.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with utility clients, co‑ops, or EPC transmission projects.
  • Background in overhead transmission (HOLT), underground distribution, or substation integration.
  • Experience managing multi‑discipline power delivery projects.
  • Familiarity with ERCOT, MISO, or other regional transmission environments.

Responsibilities

  • Lead projects through estimating, bidding, execution, and closeout phases.
  • Manage transmission, distribution, and substation construction activities.
  • Ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to quality standards.
  • Oversee subcontractors, suppliers, field leadership, and internal project teams.
  • Develop and maintain strong client and utility relationships.
  • Track and manage project costs, forecasts, schedules, and performance metrics.
  • Support project planning for transmission line construction (structures, conductor, ROW), distribution system upgrades (OH/UG), and substation scopes as applicable.
  • Promote and model Michels’ safety-first culture across all operations.
  • Drive continuous improvement through lessons learned and operational feedback.
