About The Position

The Project Manager position plays a pivotal role in the delivery of the Access Modernization and Patient Scheduling (AMP) Project, a strategic initiative focused on creating a more digitally enabled scheduling experience for patients and families booking services at CHEO. This is a two (2) year contract role that will report in a matrixed structure to the Manager, Corporate Project Management and Performance and the Project Lead for the AMP Project. The successful candidate will bring strong project management, business analysis, and leadership skills to drive implementation of this complex, cross-functional modernization initiative. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience leading complex projects, excellent communication skills (both verbal and written), strong presentation and stakeholder engagement abilities, and proven success delivering cross-functional initiatives involving digital workflows, technology, and operational change. Experience working in multidisciplinary healthcare settings and supporting transformation initiatives that improve access, patient flow, or scheduling processes is considered an asset.

Requirements

  • University degree in a health and/or business-related program (Essential)
  • Minimum five (5) years of experience leading projects (Essential)
  • Demonstrated success in leading large cross-functional change projects (Essential)
  • Ability to deliver clear and impactful project updates and presentations (Essential)
  • Confident and comfortable organizing and leading consultations, workshops, and events to support project success and foster collaboration (Essential)

Responsibilities

  • Lead the planning, execution, monitoring, and implementation of a major cross-corporate transformation initiative, ensuring alignment of scope, timelines, resources, dependencies, and deliverables to achieve intended outcomes.
  • Establish and maintain effective governance structures, prepare materials for project and executive forums, and present issues, options, recommendations, and decisions clearly to support timely and informed leadership action.
  • Identify, assess, and proactively manage project risks, issues, interdependencies, and changes in scope, ensuring impacts are understood, mitigation strategies are implemented, and escalation occurs as needed.
  • Bring together leaders, teams, and subject matter experts from across the organization to align priorities, clarify roles, coordinate workstreams, and support integrated delivery across multiple departments and operational areas.
  • Build strong, credible relationships with clinical, operational, digital, and administrative partners to foster trust, manage expectations, and maintain momentum throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Support organizational readiness by coordinating change impacts, implementation planning, communication activities, and stakeholder adoption strategies to enable successful transition to new processes, workflows, or systems.
  • Build and maintain effective working relationships with external providers, consultants, and implementation partners to support coordinated delivery, address issues proactively, and ensure alignment with project goals, timelines, and expectations.
  • Prepare project plans, charters, briefing notes, status reports, presentations, meeting materials, and other documentation required to support project execution, communication, and accountability.
  • Track project progress, milestones, and outcomes using appropriate tools and indicators, identify barriers or opportunities for improvement, and recommend adjustments to keep delivery on track and maximize value.
  • Support project planning and delivery in a manner that reflects patient and family perspectives, including ongoing engagement with the Family Advisory Council (FAC), to help ensure project decisions and implementation approaches are informed by patient and family experience.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by supervisor.
