About The Position

OCL Group Inc. (OCL) is a privately-held and employee-owned Canadian company that provides integrated general contracting and design-build solutions across Western Canada. Since 2009, OCL has served the industrial, heavy civil, oil and gas, and mining industries. The company was founded on the principle that 'people matter' and 'doing the job right'. We are currently seeking an experienced Mechanical Project Manager for our Midstream division. This role is responsible for the safe, on-time, within-budget, and high-quality planning, coordination, execution, and delivery of mechanical construction projects.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of progressive experience in industrial mechanical, piping, and pressure systems.
  • Knowledge of quality management systems, codes, and standards such as ASME B31.3 and B31.5.
  • Experience in production scheduling and labor budget preparation.
  • Highly effective customer service mindset.
  • Strong conflict resolution and negotiation skills.
  • Strong knowledge of computer software like Gmail/Google Drive, Microsoft Office, Primavera, and Bluebeam.
  • Able to communicate clearly and effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Able to work well under pressure and within tight deadlines.
  • Valid driver's license and a clean driver's abstract.
  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
  • Must reside in the Edmonton area.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test.
  • Must be willing to work a project schedule as needed and be willing to work onsite to fit project needs.
  • H2S and First Aid will be required for onsite work (or as required by client).

Responsibilities

  • Planning, coordinating, executing, and delivering mechanical construction projects safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
  • Oversight of mechanical and piping construction projects, including pressure systems, fabrication support, and review of mechanical drawings, isometrics, and P&IDs.
  • Managing contractual planning, procurement, design activities, contract costs, schedule adherence, and client liaison.
  • Supervising and reviewing the preparation of all material and subcontract requisitions.
  • Reviewing vendor quotations for compliance with technical and quality requirements.
  • Reviewing and approving project purchase orders prior to issuance.
  • Following up after purchase orders are issued to ensure schedule compliance and expedite where required.
  • Supervising budget and schedule preparation.
  • Supervising work order preparation.
  • Procuring long lead items.
  • Reviewing, outlining, and incorporating technical requirements into the product build strategy.
  • Supervising schedule and material status reporting.
  • Maintaining a consolidated project report detailing total project cost and schedule status versus planned schedule, budgets, and contract obligations.
  • Maintaining regular contact with client representatives on contract issues, schedule, delivery, and technical issues.
  • Estimating and constructing all change orders, notifications, and quality turnover documentation.
  • Leading direct and indirect reports, ensuring proper mentoring, training, performance management, and discipline when necessary.
  • Monitoring and enforcing health, safety, and environmental standards on site.
  • Identifying project risks and implementing mitigation strategies to maintain schedule and budget adherence.
  • Supervising all document control activities, including customer/client documentation, internal documentation, drawings & specifications, documentation relevant to regulatory bodies, and document distribution.
