About The Position

Requirements

  • A B.S. Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline and a minimum of eight (8) years of construction experience is required.
  • Prior experience in marine construction, heavy civil construction, heavy industrial construction, or another complex self-perform construction environment is strongly preferred.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience involving ports, harbors, piers, wharves, marine terminals, pile driving, marine foundations, bridges, waterfront structures, dredging, concrete, or other marine/heavy civil infrastructure is highly desirable.
  • Local Hawaii candidates with established experience in the state's construction market are strongly encouraged to apply.
  • Candidates with established experience working in Hawaii's construction market and familiarity with local subcontractors, suppliers, labor resources, owners, agencies, and construction logistics are particularly encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

  • Works with the Project Management Team to ensure the successful completion and profitability of ongoing and new projects.
  • Provides overall project management guidance and oversight to Superintendents and Foremen for approved marine construction projects.
  • Manages and monitors project performance, including costs, schedules, productivity, procurement, contracts, change orders, and overall project execution.
  • Develops bid proposals for upcoming marine construction and services projects and ensures timely submission of completed proposals.
  • Negotiates contracts and change orders as required by the business.
  • Estimates project costs, accounting for materials, services, equipment, labor, subcontractors, and other associated costs.
  • Procures materials and services from suppliers according to project requirements.
  • Interprets project plans, drawings, specifications, and contract documents for project teams, customers, suppliers, subcontractors, and other stakeholders.
  • Develops and manages project schedules and coordinates work activities according to project timelines to support successful and timely completion.
  • Provides an effective interface between project team members, field leadership, suppliers, subcontractors, customers, owners, and other project stakeholders.
  • Partners closely with Superintendents and Foremen to coordinate self-perform construction activities, manpower, equipment, materials, sequencing, and production.
  • Monitors project financial performance and supports forecasting, cost control, change management, and overall project profitability.
  • Ensures project team members are provided with a safe work environment and are knowledgeable of safe work practices and Company policies.
  • Participates in Safety and Environmental initiatives that contribute to compliance with State and Federal regulations and improve existing Company programs.
  • Travels to project sites throughout Hawaii as required.
  • Possesses the qualifications and physical ability to drive regular passenger vehicles to visit work locations and job sites.
  • Responsible and accountable for the incumbent's own personal safety.
  • Responsible and accountable for the safety of all co-workers and others the incumbent encounters.
  • Authorized and obligated to stop work on any task or series of tasks whenever an unsafe condition or situation is anticipated or observed.
