As the state’s largest and longest-serving energy provider, our more than 6,000 dedicated employees power our vision of creating a sustainable energy future for Arizona.SummaryThe APS Project Manager IV – New Generation Construction has oversight for large-scale solar, energy storage, and gas fired power plant projects that have significant and broad financial and/or operational impact across one or more business units or enterprise-wide.  Manages and oversees the management of multi-year projects or projects with highly compressed schedules. Leads large, cross-functional, multi-disciplinary project teams. Stakeholders may include PNW Board of Directors, external agencies and public officials. Project budgets are typically between $75,000,000 to $500,000,000. Projects involve significant financial/operational risk and/or innovative or industry changing technology and are identified as high/extreme complexity as defined within the APS Project Complexity guidelines. Communicates status updates and results to senior executives, enterprise-wide stakeholders and, at times, PNW Board of Directors and external stakeholders.

Requirements

  • A four-year Bachelors degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Information Systems or related field from an accredited college or university
  • Plus 12 years job-related project management experience.
  • In lieu of bachelors degree, combination of college coursework and/or experience as a Project Manager or in positions defining and/or managing project scopes, timelines, budgets and delivery equaling 16 years.
  • PMP certification. Experience managing large, complex, high impact projects.
  • Experience in directing multi-discipline teams.

Responsibilities

  • Plans and successfully executes large, cross-functional, multi-disciplinary, high-impact projects. Develops comprehensive execution plans in accordance with internal process methodologies.
  • Presents comprehensive project plan to project sponsors and management. Obtains all necessary stakeholder support and sponsor and executive approvals.
  • Oversees and leads project planning, resourcing, staffing, progress reporting, people management, vendor relationships and troubleshooting. Performs high-level negotiation with internal/external stakeholders and consultants throughout all aspects/phases of project.
  • Ensures schedules, budgets and resources are managed effectively.
  • Provides ongoing project updates to project teams, business management, project sponsors, executive leadership, board of directors, and external constituents including regulatory agencies, customers and public officials.
  • Ensures project deliverables and overall results meet or exceed sponsor and stakeholder expectations.
