About The Position

INIT Innovations in Transportation, Inc. is an established industry leader of Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) for Public Transit. As an international organization that develops advanced Fleet Management and Fare Collection Systems, INITs complex technology solutions involve a wide range of high-tech soft- and hardware and third-party integrations. INITs German-engineered products enabling passengers to conveniently ride Public Transit have been deployed on more than 100,000 vehicles, wayside, and platforms worldwide. With our successes and continued growth, we are looking for a highly motivated, customer-centric Project Manager to join our Project Management Team to help manage and deliver projects in our North America region. As a Project Manager II, you will play a pivotal role in managing high-profile, complex projects that positively impact the INIT organization and our customers. This position is available in either our office in Seattle, WA or Chesapeake, VA and reports to the Director of Project Management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent related field
  • Minimum seven years of work experience of which five years include managing progressively more complex intelligent information systems and IT projects in applications, infrastructure, and integration
  • Independent, driven self-starter able to thrive in a challenging, demanding and rapidly changing environment without direct supervision
  • Demonstrated project management skills against the project management knowledge areas proven in all phases of the project lifecycle
  • Successful history of managing multiple, simultaneous projects while adhering to critical milestones in a documented, organized, and repeatable manner
  • Experience deploying large complex systems with a demonstrated ability to manage large technical projects in a team environment
  • Experience in project management lifecycles and advanced working knowledge of corresponding tools such as issue tracking, configuration management , requirements management, and project management systems
  • Exceptional communication, relational, and interpersonal communication and interaction abilities to build robust, collaborative, and effective professional relationships
  • Effective skill in moderating communication based on the needs of stakeholders in written and verbal mediums for both technical and non-technical audiences, from individual project contributors, business units, and senior leadership to customers and end-users

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification

  • Track record in continuous improvement and standard operating procedures
  • Experience working in transit industry or adjacent field
  • Experience in cybersecurity and IT security
  • Experience working with Cloud technologies and platforms
  • Two or more years of experience in contract management

Responsibilities

  • Manage and successfully close complex, multi-disciplinary transit technology projects with globally dispersed teams and business organizations
  • Utilize your extensive project management experience to ensure projects are delivered against scope, budget, schedule, and quality objectives
  • Successfully develop work breakdown structures to build and routinely maintain and publish detailed project schedules and forecast reporting using modern schedule software tools
  • Define and develop a written project management, change management, cost management, and risk management plans and maintain with the customer throughout the project lifecycle
  • Possess a commanding understanding of the contractual scope including commercial terms and technical requirements
  • Provide effective and detailed routine weekly, monthly, and quarterly progress and risk reports to all affected stakeholders
  • Establish and maintain robust working relationships with a diverse array of stakeholders
  • Communicate and influence effectively with senior leadership, technical and cross-discipline stakeholders, partners, and customers
  • Motivate, mentor, and manage geographically dispersed project teams to establish and maintain a sense of unity, ownership, and teamwork to ensure alignment with INIT values and the projects strategic goals
  • Facilitate and lead influential and effective communication with senior leadership, business units, partner organizations, project teams, technical and cross-discipline stakeholders, and customers
  • Critical thinking, collaboration, and innovative problem solving with the capacity to make decisions and motivate team to deliver timely performance necessary for the success of the project and organization
  • Manage suppliers and partners from selection, contract negotiations and execution, scope and performance management, and budget
