About The Position

Colorado Springs Utilities seeks a Project Manager II to join our Facilities Project Management Team. In this role, you will manage small- to medium-scale facility infrastructure and space planning projects, and also provide project management services to the entire organization's facilities needs to ensure successful delivery within scope, budget, and schedule.

Requirements

  • At least three years of progressively responsible project management with an emphasis on building construction.
  • Remaining composed under pressure, taking initiative, and driving projects forward, communicating and sharing information effectively and appropriately, possessing sound critical thinking and decision-making ability, and strong interpersonal skills that will allow you to establish effective internal and external relationships with contractors, Utility staff, and vendors.

Nice To Haves

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Project Management, Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering, or a closely related field from an accredited college or demonstrated equivalent experience is beneficial.
  • Possessing a Certified Construction Manager (CCM) or Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD is highly beneficial.
  • Knowledge of ADA, IBC, and other building standards would also add to your success in this role.

Responsibilities

  • Manage small- to large-scale, highly complex construction projects, ensuring that they are completed within scope, schedule, budget, and to the required quality standards.
  • Provide construction and building standards expertise to the project team
  • Develop and manage the project schedules, coordinate scheduling of multiple disciplines, drive completion of all tasks on time and without conflicts, and communicate project progress and status of completion
  • Identify, assess, and resolve issues and risks throughout the project and make recommendations based on priority and need to ensure the success of project objectives
  • Coordinate with architects and engineers; perform detailed design development reviews, including project constructability, value engineering, safety by design, commissioning, and start-up plan. Attend meetings to support reviews
  • Create and coordinate project budgets, ensuring that costs are kept within budget and that financial reports (quantities, progress, invoices) are accurate
  • Monitor the safety and health performance of contractors and address deficiencies during the project as they arise. Champion safety, holding everyone accountable for high safety performance
  • Perform/monitor the as-built process with the contractor as part of the review of contractor applications for payment and ensure that all RFI’s and Change Orders are incorporated
  • Implement and oversee quality assurance measures, ensuring that all work is completed to the required standard and by the contracted construction scope
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with customers, project stakeholders, contractors, and vendors
  • Provide oversight of commissioning work and contractors' quality control during commissioning and start-up
