About The Position

Puget Sound Energy (PSE) is seeking qualified candidates to fill an open Project Manager II - Electric Utility Infrastructure position within its Project Delivery team. This role is crucial for managing electric capital projects aimed at enhancing system reliability, increasing capacity, and reducing wildfire risk. Projects may encompass transmission, distribution, substation improvements, large customer load requests, and Large Generator Interconnection Agreement (LGIA) projects. The Project Manager II will direct and manage projects of medium risk and financial impact, potentially with guidance from senior staff. This involves managing projects with clearly defined scopes, coordinating with multiple internal and external customers and departments (including Engineering, Real Estate, Environmental, Permitting, System Planning, and Energy Resources), and potentially drafting and monitoring contracts. The position requires upholding safety compliance standards, promoting a total safety culture, and conducting business honestly, ethically, and in accordance with core values and Code of Conduct. This is a safety-sensitive position subject to pre-employment drug screening.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and/or work experience.
  • At least four years relevant work experience including managing simple projects.
  • Demonstrated strong written and verbal communications skills and ability to work as part of a team.
  • Basic knowledge and experience in scheduling, estimating, accounting and finance principles.
  • Basic knowledge in project management discipline to effectively arrange resources and manage multiple simple to medium complexity projects in a cross-functional environment.
  • Customer-oriented, a positive, team-oriented and collaborative attitude, flexibility, an understanding of the business issues driving the need for the project, and solid work ethic are expected.

Responsibilities

  • Manage electric capital projects that improve system reliability, increase capacity, or reduce wildfire risk.
  • Direct and manage the processes and activities of projects that carry medium risk and financial impact.
  • Manage and execute projects with a clearly defined scope of work, which may involve multiple internal customers or departments, as well as external customers.
  • Coordinate and communicate tasks with other departments such as Engineering, Real Estate, Environmental, Permitting, System Planning, and Energy Resources.
  • Draft medium complexity contracts, monitor contracts and contractors.
  • Uphold safety compliance standards inherent in PSE’s operating and/or field procedures related to work responsibilities.
  • Promote and support a culture of total safety.
  • Ensure duties are performed in accordance with all regulatory compliance obligations.
  • Coordinate resources, provide oversight and direction to team members.
  • Identify the scope of an assigned project and decide logical action to meet project requirements and deadlines.
  • Communicate and manage the customer relationship as the primary point of contact.
  • Accurately identify customer needs, set reasonable expectations, identify potential issues and share alternatives.
  • Facilitate communication between service providers and internal customers, which may include technical support at the direction of a senior project manager.
  • Respond to customer concerns and work with appropriate parties for resolution.
  • Facilitate technical assistance to internal and external customers.
  • Apply general rules, standards and guidelines to specific technical problems.
  • Report on project and program progress as directed.
  • Gather, consolidate and analyze facts in relation to project requirements.
  • Responsible for schedule and budget development, management and forecasting.
  • Support emergency response work as requested.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
