About The Position

The Project Manager, Flood Risk will be a key member of the NYC Department of Environmental Protection’s Bureau of Coastal Resilience (BCR). The role advances the “Future and Real Time Impact Assessments” program, a city initiative to improve flood forecasting and warning capabilities for coastal and stormwater resilience. The Project Manager will assess risks associated with pluvial, fluvial, tidal, and storm surge hazards; interpret flood line mapping; and communicate flood risks to diverse audiences. Because program outputs inform emergency management decisions, basic emergency management knowledge is an asset. The role also supports community engagement and education, funding applications, and inter-agency coordination on special projects. The position is listed under the Administrative Project Manager job classification, code 8300B. DEP works to protect public health and the environment through drinking water, wastewater, stormwater, and pollution-management services. BCR works on coastal flooding risks, strategic planning, and the operations and maintenance of coastal infrastructure along New York City’s 520 miles of shoreline.
