Project Manager, Flood Risk

City of New York•New York City, NY

About The Position

The Project Manager, Flood Risk (PM) will be a key member of the NYC Department of Environmental Protection’s Bureau of Coastal Resilience (BCR). The PM will advance the “Future and Real Time Impact Assessments” program, a city initiative to improve flood forecasting and warning capabilities for coastal and stormwater resilience. The role requires advanced understanding of assessments and risks associated with pluvial, fluvial, tidal, and storm surge hazards, including interpretation of flood-line mapping and communication of risks to diverse audiences. Because program outputs will inform emergency management decisions, basic emergency management knowledge is an asset. The NYC Department of Environmental Protection provides drinking water, manages wastewater and stormwater, and addresses air, noise, and hazardous-materials pollution. BCR was created in October 2023 to address current and future coastal flooding risks. It develops and implements strategic planning initiatives and is responsible for operations and maintenance of coastal infrastructure assets along New York City’s 520 miles of shoreline. BCR coordinates across City agencies and works closely with communities and partners.
