The Project Manager leads projects of medium risk, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and according to scope. They are responsible for problem-solving, decision-making, and establishing implementation plans, including budget and schedule tracking. This position involves matrix supervision of internal staff, external consultants, and contractors/vendors. The Project Manager acts as the Owner's real property steward, overseeing Mayo Clinic's buildings and real estate development and sustainment. They assist in master planning, facility evaluations, and equipment planning/procurement. Utilizing advanced negotiation skills and various contracting options, they implement institutional directions as the Owner's contracting officer. Familiarity with state and regulatory guidelines and codes is essential, as is reviewing construction for compliance. The role requires extensive organization and planning skills to manage a diverse workload efficiently, strong decision-making capabilities, attention to detail, and excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, including presentation abilities. Collaboration across Mayo Clinic departments and corporations is key, as is adaptability in a changing environment. Additional assignments may be given, and project support may need to be adjusted based on fluctuating workloads.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Architecture (The degree must be recognized within the prerequisite requirements for Professional Licensure) and five years of Engineering or Architectural working experience or Bachelor's degree and five years in project management in Mayo Facilities Project Services part of which includes time served in the Associate Project Manager role.
Must have familiarity with state and regulatory guidelines and codes.
Extensive organization and planning skills.
Good decision-making and judgment capabilities, with excellent attention to detail and follow through.
Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills, and have presentation skills to address both large and small groups, including committees.
Must be adaptable/flexible in a changing environment.
Licensure or Project Management Professional certification is required for advancement.

Nice To Haves

Master's degree in business, health care administration or related field; and 3 years health care industry-related experience is preferred.
Licensed Professional Engineer or Architect is preferred.

Responsibilities

Leads project objectives that have medium risk to the organization and accomplishes their completion on time, within budget and according to the approved project scope.
Leads problem-solving and decision-making activities.
Establishes implementation plans and provides direction in the development and tracking of project budgets and schedules.
Provides matrix supervision of staff from both internal and collaborating Mayo Clinic departments, external consultants, and contractor/vendor resources.
Acts as the Owner's real property steward and oversees Mayo Clinic's buildings and real estate development and sustainment.
Assists in master planning activities, facility evaluations, equipment planning and procurement.
Implements institutional directions as the Owner's contracting officer using advanced negotiations skills and various contracting options.
Reviews construction for compliance with design, guidelines and governing codes.
Meets with local and state building officials, state fire marshal, state department of health, and regulatory institutions such as The Joint Commission.
Manages and organizes a large and diverse workload with a wide variety of tasks, simultaneously and efficiently.
Collaborates with all departments and corporations within Mayo Clinic and must be able to work with a wide range of personalities.
May serve on committees with administrative assignments, and support business evaluations and financial effect analyses.
