About The Position

We are currently looking to fill one (1) position for Project Manager to join our Energy Delivery Capital Execution team in a permanent position. Reporting to the Senior Engineer, Substation Capital, this role will lead the development, planning, and execution of various Substation Capital Projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, and full membership (or eligible for membership) in Engineers Nova Scotia.
  • Strong project management skills, experience with managing entire project lifecycles, knowledge of formal project management methodologies, and demonstrated competence in delivering projects on time, on schedule and on budget.
  • Strong communications and relationship skills with regards to internal and external stakeholders, and an ability to work with various departments in the Nova Scotia Power organization.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license and willingness to travel throughout Nova Scotia to support projects as needed.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a regulated utility operating environment
  • Experience with high voltage and/or medium voltage electrical infrastructure
  • PMP certification

Responsibilities

  • Manage various Substation Capital Projects pertaining to high voltage and medium voltage equipment such as transformers, switches, circuit breakers, reclosers, buswork, and more.
  • Responsible for managing the entire project lifecycle, including project development (economic and business case justification and review of alternatives, as applicable), planning, engineering, procurement, scheduling, construction, commissioning, and closeout.
  • Responsible for all components of the project’s Regulatory Governance, including managing project scope and justification, financial performance, cost controls, and NSEB requirements, as applicable.
  • Work closely with members of various Nova Scotia Power teams, including Field Operations, Control Center Operations, Engineering, Asset Management, System Planning, Environmental Services, and Safety, as well as external stakeholders, including customers, to ensure the projects are successfully developed and implemented.
  • Responsible for personal safety, that of co-workers, and those under your direction, including contractors, by observing and ensuring compliance with all Occupational Health and Safety Rules and Regulations.
  • Accountable for environmental performance as it relates to the environment management system processes and initiatives.
