About The Position

This position can be hired at two different levels: Project Manager I or Project Manager II. The Project Manager is responsible for managing Transmission, Distribution, Substation, and Road Widening capital projects within the Electric Delivery (ED) organization. They will lead project teams, serving as the single point of responsibility and accountability for all aspects of project execution. This includes planning and executing projects to meet company goals for schedule, financial performance, and operating performance. Responsibilities encompass schedule development, cash flow versus budget analysis, managing final project scope, PSA-quality estimates, establishing in-service dates, risk identification and mitigation, and project close-out.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Minimum of ten years of work experience comprising all of the following: Contract Administration, Electric Delivery (ED) System Infrastructure (Design and/or Construction), Scheduling (CPM scheduling), Budgeting Systems and Cost Controls, Contractor Claims Negotiations.
  • College education may be considered in lieu of comparable direct/related experience.
  • Working knowledge of Electric Delivery construction and design criteria.
  • A minimum of 3 years as Project Manager I, or a minimum of fourteen years of experience in the engineering and construction business.
  • Minimum of one (1) year “direct or indirect” supervisory experience (for PM I).
  • Minimum of five (5) years “direct or indirect” supervisory experience (for PM II Preferred).

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Engineering, Building Construction or associated discipline from an accredited college or university
  • PMP (PMI - Project Management Professional) certification is preferred
  • Professional Engineering License
  • Two years of electric distribution/transmission project administration experience
  • Previous experience in managing construction contracts, engineering contracts, and equipment supply contracts

Responsibilities

  • Manage the planning, engineering, procurement, construction, and start-up of multiple capital projects.
  • Manage project scope, cost, time, risk, quality, procurement, communications, and human resources to drive project execution and meet project objectives.
  • Accountable for project performance measured by safety, schedule, financial, and operating goals.
  • Review Project Scope Approvals (PSA), Project Completion Reports, and Project Change Requests (PCR’s) for upper management review and signature.
  • Manage project communications, including identifying stakeholders, facilitating meetings, delivering presentations, resolving/escalating issues, and communicating sensitive information tactfully.
  • Ensure accurate project status reporting, including updates on cost, schedule, status, and critical items.
  • Present project status to management and key stakeholders regularly.
  • Plan, organize, and coordinate project work of engineers, construction resources, technicians, or others.
  • Review and monitor contractual requirements for all engineering, equipment suppliers, and construction contractors.
  • Manage project scope through active monitoring and change control procedures, ensuring scope changes are justified and approved before implementation.
  • Develop and coordinate input into expense, capital, manpower, and salary budgets for projects.
  • Review budget, estimates, scope, and forecast cost throughout the project lifecycle to ensure accurate monthly and yearly budgets.
  • Identify areas for improvement and work to develop and maintain Project management policies, standards, procedures, and tools.
  • Manage progressively more complex projects, including maintenance capital, new facilities, plant improvement, process change, and/or new process projects with increased cost values.
