Position Overview - Lead creation of the comprehensive Test Plan for the bank's market system replacement project (Calypso integration) as a manager or a consultant. - The test plan covers the full scope of the system replacement, not just individual systems, but the entire system in scope, including Calypso, peripheral systems (GL, trade booking/settlement systems), and downstream systems, including EUC tools. - Engage with stakeholders across each system workstream to gather testing requirements and iteratively build out the plan through structured discussions and reviews. Project Summary - Integration of the market transaction management system (Calypso) covering derivative products and related workflows to replace the existing legacy system in the New York branch of a Japanese bank. Target Documentation Scope - Overall Test Plan covering: Calypso core system, peripheral systems, and downstream systems, including EUC. - Test Plans for respective Testing phases, including: Interface Testing (IT), System Testing (ST), UAT, and related test specifications.

Requirements

  • Experience as a consultant, IT vendor, or employee of a financial institution (preferably a bank), with experience in as a project manager or leadership role for one or more of the following areas for or within financial institutions (particularly banks): Business transformation initiatives, Core banking system implementation or modernization, Operational efficiency improvement initiatives
  • 10+ years of experience in IT consulting or system integration.
  • Experience in waterfall system development projects, with hands-on involvement in test planning and test execution management.
  • Strong ability in consulting basics: logical thinking, structured communication, facilitation, interview, documentation, and the ability to present and explain documents to diverse audiences
  • Lead and educate team members in project work as well as consulting skills.
  • Strong facilitation and interview skills — able to lead working sessions with stakeholders and extract actionable requirements.
  • Proven ability to write clear, well-structured planning documents — able to organize complex requirements into logical, easy-to-follow documentation.
  • Solid task and quality management skills — able to manage multiple workstreams, track progress, and maintain document quality independently.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • If not located in NYC area, must be willing to travel to NYC on a monthly basis.
  • Business-level proficiency in both Japanese and English.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in large-scale system implementation or replacement projects (mid-to-large scale).
  • Experience in financial institutions (banking, securities, or asset management)
  • Basic understanding of market or treasury business (FX, derivatives, fixed income, etc.)
  • Experience in interface design between systems (front-office ↔ accounting/settlement).
  • Experience in EUC decommissioning or migration projects.
  • Some familiarity with application development (e.g., SQL, NET, VBA/macro development)

Responsibilities

  • Define the test plan structure (table of contents) as a starting point and enhance it referencing the materials created in other projects (e.g., London branch test plans) as inputs.
  • Conduct working sessions with stakeholders, system owners, and test execution leads for respective systems to gather requirements, present drafts, and incorporate feedback.
  • Build out plan content progressively based on discussion outputs; manage document versions and review cycles.
  • Develop appendices for each test phase (IT, ST, UAT) with scope, approach, entry/exit criteria, and roles.
  • Track open items and manage Q&A to ensure timely resolution.
