About The Position

Trail of Bits is hiring a Project Manager to own client engagements end-to-end. This role serves as the primary point of contact for customers during their projects, partners with the sales team for additional client work, and acts as the liaison between engineering teams and clients. The position involves managing timelines, scope, and status reports, with a significant focus on building client relationships to facilitate future engagements. The Project Manager will collaborate closely with sales, Engineering Directors, engineering teams, and fellow PMs. Adaptability is key, as the role requires wearing multiple hats and taking initiative in a rapidly evolving cybersecurity industry, particularly with the integration of AI.

Requirements

  • Project management in professional services: Direct experience managing client-facing engagements at a consulting, advisory, or services firm, owning scope, timeline, and budget for multiple concurrent projects.
  • Client lifecycle ownership: Demonstrated experience owning client relationships through and between engagements, focusing on growing the relationship for future work.
  • Account growth contribution: Experience growing client accounts through expanded scopes, retainers, or follow-on work, comfortable making service recommendations.
  • Sales partnership: Experience working alongside a sales team to scope, propose, and close work with new and returning clients.
  • Operating without a playbook: Demonstrated experience taking initiative in environments with evolving or undefined processes.
  • Technical communication: Experience translating technical work for non-technical stakeholders and client business goals for engineering teams.
  • Executive stakeholder communication: Experience presenting project status, risks, and recommendations to executive and C-suite stakeholders.
  • AI in daily workflow: Experience using AI tools as part of daily work, as Trail of Bits is an AI-native company.
  • Tooling fluency: Hands-on experience with Slack, Google Workspace, and a project tracking tool such as Asana, GitHub, or equivalent. HubSpot or another CRM is a plus.

Nice To Haves

  • Background in cybersecurity, particularly advisory services or incident response.
  • Experience with retainer-based or recurring services revenue models.
  • Familiarity with Asana, Float, and HubSpot specifically.
  • Exposure to the blockchain, cryptography, AI/ML security space.

Responsibilities

  • End-to-end project delivery: Run multiple concurrent client engagements through the project lifecycle, managing scope, timeline, and budget.
  • Client relationship ownership: Serve as the primary point of contact across a portfolio of clients, handling status updates, working sessions, escalations, and check-ins.
  • Account growth: Identify opportunities for clients to expand their work with Trail of Bits, moving them from one-off reviews to retainers and following up on options in existing Statements of Work (SOWs).
  • Sales partnership: Run the returning-client sales cycle alongside the sales team, ensuring a seamless handoff for clients.
  • Internal coordination: Work with Engineering Directors and engineers to staff projects, manage scheduling in Float, track work in Asana, and maintain deal and account context in HubSpot.
  • Cross-functional support: Assist marketing with client attendance at industry events, contribute to internal process improvements, and support the team where needed.
