About The Position

As a Project Manager, you will be joining a dynamic team providing invaluable support to a large government contract performing applied laboratory research across a diverse range of biological and chemical biological disciplines. Operating in a collaborative environment, this position is responsible for coordinating program schedules, budgets, performance metrics, and stakeholder communications to ensure successful execution of mission-critical laboratory support activities. The Project Manager will develop planning and acquisition support materials, prepare reports and executive briefings, track program execution, and contribute to strategic and future program planning. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong organizational and communication skills, responsiveness to operational issues, and the ability to work effectively with government sponsors, technical teams, and other key stakeholders in support of complex national security and laboratory operations. This full-time position is contingent upon contract award and will be in Washington DC.

Requirements

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree in business, project management, life sciences, engineering, public health, chemistry, biology, or a related field and 8 years of relevant experience in project or program management supporting government, defense, homeland security, laboratory, or CBRNE-related programs; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting government clients with program planning, budget tracking, schedule management, reporting, briefing development, and stakeholder coordination.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a secure environment and hold TS security clearance, with experience supporting laboratory, biodefense, CBRNE, or other high-consequence operational environments strongly preferred.
  • Hold a valid driver's license and have a working knowledge of Microsoft (MS) Office products including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Sole U.S. citizenship, with the ability to obtain and maintain required government security clearances as a condition of employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working within laboratory quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001, ISO17025, GLP).
  • PMP or similar project management certification preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day leadership and coordination for a government CBRNE laboratory support program, ensuring alignment with contract requirements, customer priorities, and mission objectives.
  • Manage program schedules, milestones, deliverables, and resource planning to support effective and timely execution of laboratory support activities.
  • Monitor program budgets, track expenditures, support forecasting activities, and assist with financial reporting to maintain cost and schedule performance.
  • Develop and maintain performance metrics, dashboards, and status tracking tools to assess program health and communicate execution progress to stakeholders.
  • Prepare planning documents, acquisition support materials, reports, and executive-level briefings for government leadership and program review meetings.
  • Coordinate with government representatives, technical staff, laboratory personnel, and subcontractors to support integrated program execution and issue resolution.
  • Track action items, risks, dependencies, and operational issues, and implement follow-up measures to support continuity of operations in a secure laboratory environment.
  • Participate in government meetings, working groups, and program reviews, capturing decisions and translating them into actionable plans and deliverables.
  • Support strategic planning, future program development, and continuous improvement initiatives related to laboratory operations, mission support, and customer needs.
  • Ensure work is performed in compliance with applicable security, safety, quality, and operational requirements associated with high-consequence laboratory environments.
  • Quarterly domestic travel to Edgewood, Maryland is anticipated.
