The Project Manager – Agile SME will be an instrumental participant in delivering automation and communications capability across the FAA’s 17 Alaska Flight Service Stations (FSS). This initiative will modernize Alaska’s flight service infrastructure by replacing legacy systems with a modular suite of modern voice switching, call distribution, and advanced flight service automation and console technologies. The project emphasizes resilient telecommunications and the integration of legacy and VoIP radio systems to support Alaska’s unique and challenging operating environment. This is a hands-on position supporting the implementation of communications devices at FAA facilities throughout Alaska.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 8 years with BS/BA; Minimum of 6 years with MS/MA; Minimum of 3 years with PhD; Minimum 12 years in lieu of a degree
  • US Citizenship and the ability to obtain/maintain a Public Trust Clearance
  • Proven technical leadership ability, including providing direction, facilitating working groups, and mentoring junior engineers.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain required FAA public trust security clearance/suitability determination.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting FAA programs or National Airspace System (NAS) infrastructure projects.
  • PMP or equivalent program management certification.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Telecommunications, Computer Science, Information Technology, or Aviation Systems.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees and manages the operational aspects of NAS projects in Alaska and serves as liaison between project management and planning, project team, and line management.
  • Reviews status of projects and budgets, manages schedules, and prepares status reports.
  • Assesses project issues and develops resolutions to meet productivity, quality, and client-satisfaction goals and objectives.
  • Develops mechanisms for monitoring project progress and for intervention and problem solving with project managers, line managers, clients, and other stakeholders.
  • Collaborates closely with multiple stakeholders, including the FAA client, Peraton workstream leadership, subcontractors and other 3rd party vendors.
