About The Position

Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Sector is seeking an experienced Principal Management/Senior Principal Project Management to join our team of diverse, qualified individuals within our Program Management Office. This position will be located at Melbourne, FL. This is an individual contributor role and is not a management/leadership opportunity. The successful candidate is expected to be a highly motivated, resourceful, self-starter able to work collaboratively with internal and external teams in high-tempo environments. This position will be expected to assist with reviewing status of projects and budgets, resource planning, preparing for and facilitating meetings, and supporting various administrative functions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree with 5 years’ experience in project management, OR Master’s degree with 3 years’ experience in project management (for Principal Project Management)
  • Bachelor’s degree with 8 years’ experience in project management, OR Master’s degree with 6 years’ experience in project management (for Sr. Principal Project Management)
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Products (PowerPoint, Word, Excel)
  • Experience leading a project and/or driving performance against schedule
  • Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously
  • Experience working with and manipulating detail-oriented data
  • A current active US Government Secret security clearance or higher is required to start, with the ability to obtain and maintain SAP/PAR clearance within a reasonable amount of time as determined by business needs
  • Advanced understanding and application of Program Management principles (for Sr. Principal Project Management)

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate and coordinate proposal of contracts, contract changes, operating budgets, and schedule milestones.
  • Build and track BOEs, and proposal schedules to ensure all stakeholder inputs are captured and necessary reviews are completed to meet customer and company requirements.
  • Assist PM in establishment and management of the program baseline.
  • Perform technical project management tasks such as coordination with engineering, procurement and fabrication / manufacturing teams to ensure alignment on project objectives, requirements and timelines.
  • Monitor cost and schedule performance, support business management and program reviews, and provide clear, concise reporting to program leadership.
  • Serve as Control Account Manager (CAM), managing Earned Value (EV) performance for multiple control accounts, including planning, tracking, variance analysis, and corrective actions.
  • Develop comprehensive project plans, including timelines, resource allocation, and budget forecasts.
  • Identify project milestones, critical paths, and potential risks, and develop contingency plans to address them.
  • Participate in contractual and program review meetings and facilitate resolution to issues and follow on actions.
  • Support the Program Management Team day-to-day rhythm to keep all affected parties informed of progress, changes, and issues.
  • Assess project issues and develop resolutions to meet productivity and performance goals and objectives.
  • Collaborate across functional organizations in a matrixed environment to ensure program objectives are tracked, commitments are met, and issues are resolved in a timely manner.
  • Develop and track risks/issues/opportunities and execution of mitigation strategies to buy down technical and schedule risk using Risk, Issue, and Opportunity (RIO) management tools.
  • Build and deliver high-quality briefs, presentations, and written/oral communications for internal leadership and external customers, tailored to all levels of the organization.
