About The Position

Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Principal / Sr Principal Project Management professional to join their team in Huntsville, AL. The ideal candidate will be a team player with strong independent contribution skills, leadership, problem-solving abilities, excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills, and a proactive, detail-oriented approach. This role involves serving as the primary manufacturing liaison to program management for the development and execution of manufacturing strategies, and acting as the main contact for product development, manufacturing, test, global supply chain, and mission assurance activities. The position requires managing day-to-day interfaces and communications with suppliers, facilitating internal meetings for design, production, and problem resolution, and reporting on Earned Value Management System (EVMS) as a Cost Account Manager (CAM) for manufacturing projects. The role also includes assessing project and technical issues, developing and driving action plans to meet productivity, quality, and stakeholder satisfaction goals, and developing mechanisms for monitoring project progress and intervention. The candidate will participate in product teams, be responsible for product-level requirements analysis, Manufacturing Readiness Assessments (MRA), engineering and manufacturing of assigned products, product tracking, and visibility. Driving continuous improvement by mitigating risks and realizing opportunities, representing manufacturing at Risk Review Board (RRB) meetings, and creating/managing manufacturing risks and opportunities from the program risk register are also key responsibilities. Additionally, the role involves supporting and generating proposal documentation for new work, including material planning and production scheduling. The candidate must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, a good problem-solving mindset, and the ability to present program visibility at various internal/external meetings, including executive levels.

Requirements

  • A03: 5 Years experience with Bachelors; 3 Years with Masters; 3 Year with PhD; an additional 1 years of experience an additional 4 years of experience may be considered in lieu of degree
  • A04: 8 Years experience with Bachelors; 6 Years with Masters; 4 Year with PhD; an additional 4 years of experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
  • Must be a US Citizen with an active DoD Secret Clearance, at time of application, current and within scope, with an investigation date within the last 6 years.
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) approval within a reasonable period of time as determined by the company to meet its business need.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of project management principles and execution of large projects.
  • Proficiency in creating, maintain and utilizing metrics in excel, and SharePoint. Strong data analytic skill set required.
  • Experience working within an Integrated Product Team (IPT).
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (PowerPoint, Word, Excel).
  • Ability to work independently and multitask.
  • 3 year’s experience in manufacturing or production environment

Nice To Haves

  • Active DoD Top Secret Clearance.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
  • Experience with SAP in a low-volume, high-mix manufacturing environment.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience on government contracts and in earned-value management (EVM).
  • Demonstrated experience developing manufacturing production proposals and managing hardware production activities.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as primary manufacturing liaison to program management for development and execution of the manufacturing strategy
  • Be the primary product development, manufacturing, test, global supply chain, and mission assurance contact for program activities managing and maintaining the day-to-day interfaces and communications with suppliers.
  • Facilitating internal meetings to support design, production, and problem resolution.

  • Participating in a product team, responsible for product-level requirements analysis, Manufacturing Readiness Assessments (MRA), engineering and manufacturing of the products assigned, product tracking, and product visibility.
  • Drive continuous improvement through mitigating risks and realizing opportunities
  • Representing manufacturing at the program Risk Review Board (RRB) meetings and creating / managing any applicable manufacturing risks and/or opportunities from the program risk register.
  • Supporting and generating proposal documentation as needed to foster new work including material planning and production scheduling for all aspects of producing product through delivery.
  • Possess excellent communication skills - both verbal and written; strong interpersonal skills; a good problem-solving mindset; and the ability to present program visibility at internal/external meetings to include all levels of management including executive level.
