About The Position

Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Principal / Sr Principal Project Management professional to join their team in Huntsville, AL. This role requires a candidate who is a team player, a strong independent contributor with leadership skills, demonstrated problem-solving abilities, excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills, and a proactive, detail-oriented approach. The position involves supporting Engineering Change Management throughout the Design Review lifecycle, overseeing integration between Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) and the manufacturing team, facilitating internal meetings, maintaining data and metrics for hardware deliveries, organizing action items, serving as an integration function for the program, coordinating performance visibility, developing high-level briefings, providing solutions to complex problems, and identifying opportunities for organizational change. The role also includes overseeing and managing operational aspects of ongoing projects, serving as a liaison between project management and planning, the project team, and line management, reviewing project status and budgets, managing schedules, preparing status reports, assessing project issues, developing resolutions, and developing mechanisms for monitoring project progress and problem-solving.

Requirements

  • A03: 5 Years experience with Bachelors; 3 Years with Masters; 3 Year with PhD; an additional 1 years of experience an additional 4 years of experience may be considered in lieu of degree
  • A04: 8 Years experience with Bachelors; 6 Years with Masters; 4 Year with PhD; an additional 4 years of experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
  • Must be a US Citizen with an active DoD Secret Clearance, at time of application, current and within scope, with an investigation date within the last 6 years.
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) approval within a reasonable period of time as determined by the company to meet its business need.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of project management principles and execution of large projects.
  • Proficiency in creating, maintain and utilizing metrics in excel, and SharePoint. Strong data analytic skill set required.
  • Experience working within an Integrated Product Team (IPT).
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (PowerPoint, Word, Excel).
  • Ability to work independently and multitask.
  • 3 year’s experience in manufacturing or production environment

Nice To Haves

  • Active DoD Top Secret Clearance.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
  • Experience with SAP in a low-volume, high-mix manufacturing environment.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience on government contracts and in earned-value management (EVM).
  • Demonstrated experience developing manufacturing production proposals and managing hardware production activities.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate internal meetings across each IPT and functional stakeholders for approvals
  • Support Engineering Change Management throughout the Design Review lifecycle.
  • Oversee integration between IPTs and the manufacturing team.
  • Maintain data, visibility, and metrics supporting Hardware deliveries.
  • Organize action items and ensure their closure plans in a timely fashion by meeting the estimated completion date (ECD).
  • Serve as an overall integration function for the program engaging in many ad hoc activities required to ensure streamlined cadence for program operations and execution
  • Coordinate performance visibility to Program Office.
  • Develop and deliver high level briefings to Program Leadership and/or customer
  • Provide solutions to complex problems that are consistent with the organizations objectives
  • Identify opportunities for change and champion needed changes in the organization.
  • Oversees and manages the operational aspects of ongoing projects and serves as liaison between project management and planning, project team, and line management.
  • Reviews status of projects and budgets; manages schedules and prepares status reports.
  • Assesses project issues and develops resolutions to meet productivity, quality, and client-satisfaction goals and objectives.
  • Develops mechanisms for monitoring project progress and for intervention and problem solving with project managers, line managers, and clients.
