About The Position

Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Principal/Sr Principal Project Manager for a role located in Roy, UT. This position may offer a competitive relocation assistance package. Project Managers are the primary liaison between projects and stakeholders, responsible for reviewing status, managing schedules, and preparing reports. They utilize their knowledge, skills, tools, and techniques across all project phases (Initiating, Planning, Executing, Monitoring & Controlling, and Closing) to ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, on budget, and with high quality. Core duties include developing and maintaining comprehensive project plans, including work breakdown structures, detailed schedules, cost estimates, and resource allocations. They continuously monitor progress, track performance, and report status. Additionally, they identify, assess, and mitigate risks and opportunities, ensuring compliance with standards like Earned Value Management and aligning deliverables with Northrop Grumman requirements. Strong soft skills, including effective communication, leadership, problem-solving, and negotiation, are essential for managing stakeholder expectations and supporting team members. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and 5 years of related experience; master's degree and 3 years’ experience; PhD and 1 years’ experience or an additional 4 years of related experience in lieu of a degree (for Principal Project Manager).
  • Bachelor's degree and 8 years of related experience; master's degree and 6 years’ experience; PhD and 4 years’ experience or an additional 4 years of related experience in lieu of a degree (for Sr Principal Project Manager).
  • At least 1 year of experience leading a project and/or driving performance against schedule (for Principal Project Manager).
  • At least 4 years of experience leading a project and/or driving performance against schedule (for Sr Principal Project Manager).
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Must have an active U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance at time of application, current and within scope.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) approval within a reasonable period.
  • Demonstrated track record/experience in project management/execution and closeout.
  • Skilled use of Microsoft Office Products (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Project).
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Project Management principles.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to establish a solid working relationship with technical staff, peers, and customers.
  • Experience planning, scheduling, and managing projects with many different stakeholders.
  • Experience developing content, packaging, and briefing communication.
  • Capable of working with minimal direction, independently determines and develops technical objectives of assignments, and presents work upon completion for high level review.

  • A successful track record of program performance, interpersonal team building skills, and management experience (for Sr Principal).
