About The Position

Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Principal Project Manager/Sr. Principal Project Manager to support the Sentinel program in Roy, Utah. This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package. The position focuses on managing the operational aspects of ongoing projects, serving as a liaison between project management, subcontracts/contracts management, planning, project team, and line management. The primary focus will be supporting Sentinel products from approved suppliers in Roy, UT. The role requires reviewing project status and Earned Value performance, managing schedules, preparing status reports, assessing project issues, and developing resolutions to meet productivity, quality, and client-satisfaction goals. It also involves developing mechanisms for monitoring project progress, supporting sub-contracting efforts, assisting with risk and opportunity management, organizing meetings, and integrating with other project managers. Collaboration with the Engineering team and Global Supply Chain (GSC) is essential for PO generation, and support will be provided to leadership for supplier deliverable timelines and PO execution. The position requires the ability to perform complex professional tasks with minimal direction.

Requirements

  • Principal Project Manager: 5 years of relevant experience with a Bachelors Degree; 3 years with a Masters; 1 year with PhD. 4 additional years of experience may be considered in lieu of a degree
  • Sr. Principal Project Manager: 8 years of relevant experience with a Bachelors Degree; 6 years with a Masters; 4 years with PhD. 4 additional years of experience may be considered in lieu of a degree
  • Must be a US Citizen with an active DoD Secret Clearance with an investigation date within the last 6 years.
  • At least 4 years of experience leading a project and/or driving performance against schedule.
  • Demonstrated track record/ experience in project management/ execution and closeout.
  • Skilled use of Microsoft Office Products (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Project).
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Project Management principles.
  • Capable of working with minimal direction, independently determines and develops technical objectives of assignments, and presents work upon completion for high level review.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to establish a solid working relationship with technical staff, peers, and customers.
  • Proficient in using the Atlassian Suite of tools (Confluence and Jira).
  • Must be able to work on-site in Roy, Utah.

Nice To Haves

  • Subcontract Management (SMT) background – experience with managing scope of work (SOWs) would be a massive plus.
  • PMP Certification.
  • In scope active DoD Top Secret clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage the operational aspects of ongoing projects and serve as a liaison between project management, subcontracts/contracts management, planning, project team, and line management.
  • Review status of projects and Earned Value performance; manage schedules and prepare status reports.
  • Assess project issues and develop resolutions to meet productivity, quality and client-satisfaction goals and objectives.
  • Develop mechanisms for monitoring project progress and for intervention and problem solving with project managers, line managers, and clients.
  • Support sub-contracting effort either via IWO or supplier.
  • Help support risk and opportunity management for the team.
  • Help organize and plan out summit meetings and develop agendas with the assistance of engineering team.
  • Integrate yourself with other project managers on other IPTs.
  • Work closely with Engineering team and Global Supply Chain (GSC) to translate engineering needs to PO generation.
  • Support leadership with supplier deliverable timelines and PO execution.
  • Independently demonstrate the skill and ability to perform fairly complex professional tasks.
