About The Position

This ten-week paid internship is located in Chicago, IL. Project Management Interns are responsible for actively participating in HCSC’s formal internship program that leverages your skills, knowledge, and capabilities while providing meaningful experience supporting business objectives and member-focused solutions. Working closely with cross-functional teams in both business and technical areas, the Project Management Intern will contribute to project work, analyze information, and support the development of solutions that address organizational needs. The Project Management Intern is responsible for learning and applying specific aspects of the organization's processes, programs, and technologies while demonstrating increasing independence and ownership of assigned deliverables.

Requirements

  • Pursuing a bachelor’s degree; rising senior with a major in project management, computer science, IT, or business. Other majors may be considered.
  • Graduation date between December 2027 and June 2028
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0/4.0.
  • Available for the full duration of the 10-week program.
  • Unrestricted authorization to work in the United States; sponsorship is not available for this role.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior internship experience is a plus
  • Leadership experience is a plus
  • Experience with project coordination/management and stakeholder management is a strong plus
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills is a strong plus
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills including verbal and written communication
  • Practical, developed PC skills, especially Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook

Responsibilities

  • Own components of project work and deliverables with guidance from an assigned mentor and manager.
  • Conduct research, analyze data and information, and develop recommendations that inform real business decisions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Support departmental initiatives that improve business outcomes and the member and client experience.
  • Develop and deliver a final internship presentation to department leadership covering the project, results, and recommendations.
  • Maintain complete confidentiality of company business and comply with HIPAA, Diversity Principles, Corporate Integrity, and applicable compliance policies.
  • Assist project manager with managing projects and subprojects/work effort.
  • Assist in developing project deliverables including project plans, schedules, and status reports.
  • Help to facilitate and prepare meetings by scheduling and coordinating agendas and materials, documenting meeting minutes, following up on action items, gathering, organizing, and distributing project-related documentation.
  • Provide project management support under the supervision of the PMO supervisor or manager.
  • Help to manage financials and resources utilizing the Project Portfolio Management Software.
