About The Position

Gilbane Development Company is seeking local students for a temporary internship opportunity from December 2026 through July 2027. This Project Management internship offers hands-on experience on a modern apartment community project with 375 units, located south of downtown Austin. The intern will provide on-site support to the Gilbane Development Company (GDCo) management team for the construction of the “Aer” multifamily project. Responsibilities include administrative and documentation tasks, as well as on-site verification of project and occupancy-related tasks.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in an Engineering, Construction Management, or similar program.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office.
  • Willingness to assist in all areas of specific responsibilities.
  • Superior attention to detail and organizational abilities.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for collaborating with diverse individuals.
  • Excellent command of the English language, written and oral.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior exposure to the construction industry is a plus.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the development and updating of documents to track construction completion, punch lists, and owner acceptance for individual spaces.
  • Update documents to track the delivery, installation, and owner acceptance of furniture, fixtures, and equipment (FF&E).
  • Verify the completion of all work and correction of construction punch list items for assigned spaces, with guidance on quality expectations and documentation.
  • Assist the GDCo team with coordinating and overseeing multiple FF&E vendors during delivery and installation, tracking items for property management turnover.
  • Verify FF&E installation against specifications and develop punch lists for discrepancies.
  • Verify the completion and correction of identified FF&E punch list items.
  • Assist the GDCo team with the receipt and placement of incidental FF&E items purchased directly by GDCo.
