Fleet Ballistic Missiles (FBM) is one of Lockheed Martin’s best-in-class Lines of Businesses that prioritizes partnership, integrity and reliability. Controls Engineering is an organization within FBM that facilitates control of the missile through servo actuators, gas hydraulic systems and small rocket motors. We are a community of engineers looking for a dependable engineer to join our tight-knit group. The Mechanical Controls group is an organization within FBM that is responsible for the design and production support of the systems that control the missile both before and after boost. This position is for an IPT lead in the Boost Control System (BCS) IPT that both collaborates well in a team environment and has excellent communication skills. In this role, you will have numerous opportunities to represent the BCS IPT with our Navy partner, LM leadership, and suppliers, with many opportunities for career development along the way. The BCS IPT is responsible for the development, manufacture, and management of the control systems used during the boost phase of the missiles flight. This position will be for an IPT lead for the Gas Generator IPT. This position will lead all efforts within the Gas Generator IPT, responsible for budget, schedule, and technical execution, guiding the team of engineers and reporting up to BCS management.

Requirements

  • 4+ years professional experience with at least 1 years' experience in an project management and/or lead role.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment and ability to articulate technical data and concepts to a wide audience of individuals of different technical backgrounds.
  • Experience with sub-contracts, and/or vendor management.

Nice To Haves

  • Ability to work with minimal detailed direction to deliver desired results.
  • Experience in managing and prioritizing your own workload that may consist of several tasks at once.
  • Experience with the Fleet Ballistic Missile (FBM) program and/or the US Navy partner.
  • Earned Value Management experience.

Responsibilities

  • Leading the Gas Generator IPT, delegating tasks to the team and reporting status to management
  • Extensive support and integration with various outside companies that are sub-contracted to the program
  • Collaborating with engineering teams, program management teams, and external supplier teams to ensure alignment and successful execution of tasks
  • Analyzing and resolving problems, and managing and prioritizing your own workload
  • Generating status reports, project plans, and work instructions using Microsoft Office products
  • Working effectively in a team environment, communicating complex ideas clearly, and having excellent problem-solving skills
