Project Lead - SOF RACER

BMNTArlington, VA
$135,000 - $155,000Hybrid

About The Position

This role nurtures the relationships that fill the pipeline with real, funded problems, and the engagement that makes membership worth every company’s time for the SOF RACER consortium. You’ll be the person a SOCOM office calls when they have a challenge and no time, the reason a first-time defense vendor feels like membership was the best thing they ever signed up for, and the face of SOF RACER in the rooms where good questions and critical thinking influence what gets built. BMNT runs the human engine of the SOF RACER consortium, a new initiative launched by USSOCOM that is free for companies, pays operators only to perform, and aims to deliver commercial technology to SOF operators in weeks instead of years.

Requirements

  • Experience working government acquisition from the industry side, including consortium, OTA, accelerator, or federal BD experience.
  • Proven ability to earn the trust of program managers and guide them through processes.
  • Ability to brief a general officer and coach a seed-stage founder.
  • Skilled in discovery conversations, talking only 25-40% of the time and treating learned information as the product of effort.
  • Understanding of classification guidelines, maintaining unclassified conversations, and routing sensitive information appropriately.
  • Comfort with autonomy and ambiguity, with a proactive approach to seeking help when needed.
  • Minimum active Secret clearance; TS/SCI preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Own the demand engine by building and maintaining relationships with SOCOM stakeholders across the enterprise.
  • Manage the structured intake conversation for challenges, guiding needs from first contact to a problem statement for consortium competition.
  • Be present on base regularly to build the pipeline in person.
  • Own member value by providing knowledge and education that helps companies grow their businesses, including assisting new defense contractors.
  • Run point on key events such as training days, curation sessions, and demo events, ensuring follow-through to advance problems.
  • Hunt for growth signals by combining public testimony and private conversations to curate opportunities and drive them through SOF RACER.
  • Work autonomously within a small, process-driven team, focusing on agreed-upon leading indicators of success.

Benefits

  • Compensation offered will be determined by factors such as location, level, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience; the range for this role is $135,000 to $155,000.
