About The Position

The College of Charleston (CofC) seeks an experienced Project Lead/Manager to partner with the PMO and ensure the successful completion of information technology projects. The role involves implementing standardized project management practices, fostering collaboration, and ensuring projects meet quality, schedule, and budget goals. This is a contract position for 20 hours per week, with a possibility of extension and a potential FTE opportunity. The current FTE in this role is retiring, and due to a CIO transition, a contract resource is needed to maintain continuity during the hiring freeze. The College anticipates posting the FTE role soon and encourages the selected contractor to apply.

Requirements

  • 3+ years working with Business Analysts (Client)
  • 3+ years of experience working with Kanbans
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
  • Bachelor’s Degree + 5 years related work experience OR 9+ years of related work experience without a degree
  • Candidate must be a current SC resident or relocate prior to start
  • Must have own equipment (Laptop, monitor, etc.)

Nice To Haves

  • Product Owner experience
  • Experience with ServiceNow
  • Experience with Data Analysts, Data Scientists, or data management projects
  • Prior IT role (analyst, programmer, etc.)
  • Other PMI certifications
  • Agile or Scrum certifications (e.g., CSM, PMI-ACP)

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and oversee standardized project management processes and methodologies tailored to CofC needs.
  • Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to quality standards.
  • Prepare project documentation and deliverables for both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Monitor project performance and report progress via dashboards and executive summaries.
  • Identify risks, resolve blockers, and enforce quality standards across deliverables.
  • Facilitate cross-departmental communications and stakeholder engagement.
  • Mentor and coach team members in Agile practices.
  • Perform other duties as assigned (e.g., special projects, task force participation).
