About The Position

This role serves as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in build yard LCS-2 variant systems. The Project Lead PDSS - SDCA is responsible for leading, training, and coordinating SME and QTR level repairs, testing, and system commissioning. This position prioritizes repair and testing activities with the project team and assigns the repair and test schedule based on the fleet schedule. The role involves tracking and reporting testing metrics using the Test Index on a weekly, monthly, and annual basis. The individual will work from limited documentation, written or verbal instructions, schematics, rough sketches, diagrams, layouts, and plans, often requiring interpretation and application of comprehensive knowledge and practical understanding of electronic theory and principles. The role may involve working on analog, digital, and/or video circuitry and logic systems. Responsibilities include performing operational tests and fault isolation on systems and equipment, conducting complex product testing requiring improvisation of procedures, components, parts, or apparatus, and determining methods to rectify malfunctions. The Project Lead will provide guidance and expertise on repair and testing requirements, offer recommendations for engineering modifications, and may direct various test engineering support activities. This role also guides the selection and setup of test apparatus or devices/test equipment for system repairs and sets up specialized test equipment for non-routine assemblies and systems. The position requires autonomous work with significant responsibilities regarding the safety and effective utilization of repair and test team members.

Requirements

  • Requires 5 - 8 years of experience in a ship board environment and up to 3 years of ship board operations.
  • Must have an ability to work in a ship board environment and meet all physical requirements of the job.
  • Must be knowledgeable of shipboard engineering plant terminology and operations.
  • Must be knowledgeable of industrial or marine ancillary machinery systems installation and operation.
  • Strong knowledge of ride control, smart pack & stern door required.
  • Knowledge of propulsion diesel engines, gas turbines & hydraulic prime mover required.
  • Strong organizational skills; must be able to meet firm deadlines, manage under time constraints and contend with multiple competing priorities.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain required Security Clearance.
  • US Citizenship Required

  • Guides the selection and set up of test apparatus or devices/test equipment to test the repairs of a system.
  • Sets up specialized test equipment for checkout of non-routine assemblies and systems.
  • Works autonomously with significant responsibilities with regard to the safety and effective utilization of repair and test team members.
  • Leads team of Repair Specialists.
  • Assigns and follows-up on work schedule, reports progress, troubleshoots and resolves issues of team members.
  • Uses judgment to make broad decisions within the scope of contractual requirements.
  • Works autonomously.
