This role plays a key role in estimating everything from small jobs to state-of-the-art dairy and beef facilities. You will support the Outside Sales teams by reviewing customer information, field measurements, and rough sketches to develop accurate estimates for cattle handling systems and agricultural facility projects. You will prepare professional proposals, labor estimates, and supporting documentation. The role involves reading and interpreting engineered drawings and blueprints, calculating material quantities, labor hours, equipment needs, and overall project costs, and negotiating with vendors and suppliers. You will also coordinate with various stakeholders to keep projects moving and build strong customer relationships. Completing post-project job costing is also a responsibility to evaluate results and improve future estimating accuracy.

Requirements

• Construction experience
• Experience in agriculture, livestock equipment, fencing, cattle handling systems, or a related industry.
• Comfortable with math
• Microsoft Office experience
• Experience reading construction drawings
• Ability to learn new software

Responsibilities

• Support the Outside Sales teams in Fort Plain, NY, and Lancaster, PA by reviewing customer information, field measurements, and rough sketches to develop accurate estimates for cattle handling systems and agricultural facility projects.
• Prepare professional proposals, labor estimates, and supporting documentation that help our Outside Sales team deliver competitive solutions to customers.
• Read and interpret engineered drawings and blueprints while creating and modifying project layouts in SolidWorks—we'll provide training for the right candidate.
• Calculate material quantities, labor hours, equipment needs, and overall project costs while negotiating with vendors and suppliers to develop accurate, competitive, and profitable estimates.
• Coordinate with customers, Outside Sales representatives, vendors, subcontractors, field supervisors, and installation crews to help keep projects moving from estimate to completion.
• Build strong customer relationships by providing responsive communication and dependable support before, during, and after each project.
• Complete post-project job costing to evaluate results, improve future estimating accuracy, and strengthen our estimating processes.
• Travel to our Lancaster, PA, office during your first six months for onboarding and training, with company-paid mileage, lodging, and per diem. Occasional job site visits may also be part of your ongoing development.
