About The Position

Shimmick is seeking a Project Engineer in Palmdale, California to support the Palmdale Water Reclamation Plant Influent Pump Station Modification project. This project for the Los Angeles County Sanitation District (LACSD) includes upgrades to influent pumping and electrical systems, construction of a new utility building, and associated civil improvements. The work will enhance operational reliability, improve system performance, and support long-term water reclamation operations serving the surrounding region. The Project Engineer supports the successful planning and execution of infrastructure projects, including roads, bridges, utilities, and other civil works. The Project Engineer will work closely with project managers, superintendents, subcontractors, and design teams to ensure technical accuracy, regulatory compliance, and adherence to project schedules and budgets. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field + 6 years of heavy civil construction experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.

Responsibilities

  • Perform various management, leadership, and people accountability responsibilities for a specific technical group or department.
  • Responsible for interpreting, organizing, executing, and coordinating technical assignments.
  • Plan and develop engineering tasks concerned with unique or controversial problems. This involves exploration of subject area, definition of scope and selection of problems for investigation and development of novel concepts and approaches.
  • Maintain liaison with units within the organization and individuals inside and outside of the organization.
  • Responsible for acting independently on technical matters pertaining to the field.
