Engineer - Survivability Liaison (Palmdale CA)
About The Position
Northrop Grumman is an industry leader in Stealth Technology, involved in all phases of development, production, and maintenance of Low Observable (LO) platforms. We are currently looking for Stealth / Low Observable / Radar Cross Section (RCS) / Signature / Survivability Engineers to work on exciting and challenging projects. This position will be located in Palmdale, CA. This position will be 1st shift - Monday - Thursday 10 hour shifts. We are looking Survivability Engineers with Interest & knowledge in at least one of the following skill areas: Design Integration, Antenna Integration, Proposal Writing and Estimating, Infrared, Visual and Acoustics, Specialty Materials, Computational Analysis. The Survivability core competencies include developing and integrating advanced technology to reduce the detectability of aircraft in the electromagnetic, infrared, visual and acoustic spectrums. This involves developing and implementing predictive analysis codes, building and testing physical models, designing, developing and building test and verification equipment, and developing, testing and integrating specialty materials. The role works closely with engineers of other disciplines to optimize the integration of this technology on existing and future aircraft. Perform analysis on Low Observable data to identify component and system performance trends, identify component defects and identify potential areas for improvement. Coordinate with other Integrated Product Team (IPT) members and suppliers to convey and achieve Survivability requirements, arriving at a balanced design and exceeding customer requirements. Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) with 2 years of related experience; OR Masters degree in a STEM discipline with 0 years of related experience
- Specific Survivability interest & knowledge in at least one the following areas: Design Integration, Antenna Integration, Proposal Writing and Estimating, Infrared, Visual and Acoustics, Specialty Materials, Computational Analysis
- An active U.S. Government Secret Security Clearance current and within scope, at time of application with the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Programs (SAPs) within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business needs
Nice To Haves
- Proficiency in RF modeling and testing at an indoor/outdoor RCS/RF test facility.
- Strong interpersonal communication and technical writing skills to enable effective personal interaction and collaboration with a multi-disciplined team and customers.
- Applied Electromagnetics and/or Aircraft Survivability, or Comprehensive understanding of Electromagnetic Energy transmission though space and within materials.
- Strong knowledge of low observables and RCS performance.
- Master’s degree in Physics, Chemical, Electrical Engineering or a related technical field.
- Proficient in development, executing, and analyzing tests.
- Ability to work with internal support organizations such as Global Supply Chain and Security.
